F80 M3 Painted Side Vents

Are you guys buying these in Gloss Black to match the Gloss Black Side Markers? I haven't seen an M3 in person yet to make the decision.

Anyone installed the vents? Anything special about the install?

I personally didn't see the point, here's a shot of mine with the standard vents.

If anything, it would look like a cheap bodyshop worked on the car and didn't know which parts to leave bare, IMHO.

Just want the vent match the glossy back grille and side marker - especially in white car.

Everyone is going gloss black, why not car color?

Anyone have a pic of a side vent and marker the same color as the car?

Did it with out the painted side vents, the original is fine in my opinion, rather spend that money on other parts.

I went gloss black because I want it to match the marker, the trim and the kidney surrounds.

Just gotta get my car first....

I don't really think its a particularly noticeable mod changing the vent, the side marker is much more so. I also opted out of swapping the rear reflectors for the Sakhir Orange inserts that came with my SO cosmetic kit. To be honest I kind of like the rear reflectors! The front ones had to go though , just look how obvious they are in my signature. . . I need a new one now that they are gone.

I notice pretty small details... and that vent was one that would stick out like a sore thumb compared to the side marker.

blasphemy to some, but I plastic-dipped the side markers and front grille surrounds. turned out very clean and the matte finish matches the existing vent which I'm a fan of. I'll probably replace for glossy everything eventually but for $5 and a few hours (mostly waiting between coats) it looks very good. I'm sure it'll get damaged (especially the grille surrounds) but for now I actually really like
the looks of the matte. deep down I do feel cheap for doing it but in reality we are all just overpaying for cheap plastic parts anyway haha

Don't feel cheap for hoping the plasti-dip route if you're happy with the look. Post up some pics

Left mine normal. Someone asked if I changed the vents too and to be honest I didnt even notice the contrast when I was installing the markers.

I have set of glossy ones sitting here, just worried that there's some mad trickery to get the old vent out.

I have both in gloss black and like them a lot. No big deal with the swapping process, used the pry kit from IND, took me 5-7 mins to swap both.

Does the vent just pull out or do you have to go behind the wheel well etc?

I have the black M4 and I thought about it as well, but I can't see any difference? I am still deciding if I want to change the side sill....what do you guys think? I think it is nice seeing the contrast against the black car...on any other color, especially white, blue, silver, I would get the black one 100% no doubt about it, but on black, it is tough to see it and I like the sill.

Finally got to it, the side markers popped out nicely following IND's instructions.

Side vent was easy to take out as well, I used the pry tool on inside side of the vent to pop the larger 2 clips out. I used needle nose pliers wrapped in cloth to grab into the lower sideways plastic piece in the vent and just pulled it out (requires little bit of force).

Everything pops back in very easy, sorry for crappy pic:

Does anyone have this in a color-matched color or even crazier in something that doesn't match the car or isn't black?

Went with gloss black vents with my gloss black side markers. Figured it would go well with the shadowline trim and that there isnt really any other black plastic on the car outside of the hood cowl wiper area and the plastic moldings on the car. Pretty happy with how it looks. To me it just emphasizes the vent a bit more since its painted and shiny. Goes well with black front grille.

Pics

Super easy install. Under 5 mins on each side. Used the IND video for the markers and the vent popped out with the marker on one side.
