I really like the design of this spoiler, especially how it is raised in the center just the stock bumper allowing slightly more ground clearance. However, 10lbs is by no means lightweight. Why is it so heavy?

Its not actually 10lbs, its probably closer to 5lbs. That's shipping weight, which is higher because of insurance, packaging etc.

Also remember, this is not a composite part. It's built to be durable and designed to hit a specific price point. If you are looking for light weight, a carbon fiber part might be better suited for you. I can tell you from experience though, the raw materials in a carbon part might not even hit our retail price point of our Aluminum part.

Of course I can understand that it can't be as light as CF and it's meant to be more for durability and cost effectiveness. But also being such a thin piece of Aluminum I expected it to be lighter than 10lbs, which was what I initially understood from your first reply.

Any chance you can get an exact weight of the lip (since your statement implies an estimate of 5lbs)?

Our scale is not accurate under 10lbs, but once i have some time to head to a post office, I'll snap a pic and share. My son is out sick with a fever, so it will be a couple of days.

I'll see if we can get some aussies together for a group buy.

It's a great looking lip!

Thanks, nothing like waiting at Kaiser for 2hrs with an appointment!

As for you aussies, I might be able to get 4-5 lips in one box. Melbourne represent! ( i had the opportunity to live with family there (n. Balwyn) for 3 months in summer back in 92)

Actually I did remember that I have a couple of photos on a raw bumper that did not have splitters. This was when we were mocking up the lip during development.

I know this can be more durable than plastic or cf. but when you rub it isn't it going to bend?

With enough force, yes of course. It's not super flimsy though. Unless you are built like the Mountain, you would have a very hard time bending a 1/8" thick piece of aluminum with your hands and the same goes with hitting a speed bump or curb going less than 10mph.

I should've asked this before I ordered...are these lips in stock or is there a wait for production.

Thanks again for your order. It's in stock. Shipping it out today. Also included a little something extra for you, since you are one of the first orders.

Interested although I wonder how this will hold up against scratches and minor bumps versus a polyethylene lip similar to that offered by Lightweight. Do you think this will scratch easily and show bare aluminum?

I was planning to get the Lightweight lip, but this piqued my interest.

My partner has done them with other cars and haven't had any issues. Polyurethane by nature is a rubber based material, so it's really a comparison between apples and oranges here.

I get that they are different materials, but my main focus was on long-term durability and whether it will show it's "age" so to speak with everyday wear and tear since it's powder coated.

Interesting concept for a lip and still interested. Hope to see some customer reviews soon!

Gotcha, powder coat is going to be more durable than paint, but if you did enough damage to scrape a painted lip, I'm sure you would scrape up the powdercoat as well.

For the price of this aluminum lip compare to other lips out there. It's a no brainier. Good quality and affordable.
