Does anyone knw the weight difference between the new m3 and m4, both with identical options, carbon fiber roof and manual transmission?

If history is any indication, F82 will be ~25 pounds lighter or so. Maybe a couple of pounds more to account for the lighter CF bootlid that it has.

any light shed on whether that is euro dry weight or?

im guessing in real life the m3 will be lucky to weigh 3500 lbs on US scales if spec'd without ceramics?

That's all liquids, 90% fuel, no driver, almost exactly 3300lbs (1497kg). Still not sure which brakes, though.

That's not bad. I'm assuming 40 pounds will be owed to the braking option, so I'm adding 40 pounds for that.

if that is the case then I am pretty damn impressed. If I can get a modestly equipped sedan that weighs 3400lbs with carbon roof and regular brakes with 18s, im in.

the more I learn the more I am getting close to making a poor financial decision by buying one of these new lol

If I understand the whole saga correctly, 1497kg is the base car with CCB, all fluids and no driver. Essentially the lowest possible figure out of the showrrom.

I still hope it's with steel brakes. Swamp2 cannot always be right after all, can he?

On the E9X, the 19" 220M wheels and tires were lighter than the base 18"s...

On the the F8X, the 19"s could also end up being the lighter option. We will have to wait and see...

right. but 1520kg is 3362 right? and plus 40 for no ceramic brakes is 3402? the m4 would be 52 lbs lighter? I prefer the sedan.

The battery in a normal BMW or Audi weighs about 65 pounds. You can put in a lightweight battery made out of lithium ion for about $1800, and it only weighs 9 pounds. It's unclear if they slimmed it down for this car, but it's full of electronics so I doubt it.

Been there done that. I tried one that weighed about 20 lbs in my car. Total disaster. I was warned, tried it anyway and will likely never bother again.
