Had my car for a day now and am absolutely loving this feature. I ignore it of course, but it's nice to have.

So just for clarification this software upgrade is only applicable to cars with iDrive 5.0 and above so, essentially build date from June 2016. Is that right? Thanks

Thanks for that, missed it in the thread. Now for what sounds like a painful task of getting the dealer to do the work. Fingers crossed.

Contacted BMW dealer in Melbourne (not BMW Melbourne). To be fair I think they were totally stumped, said they needed to do some research and get back to me. :

Has anyone had any success with this recently?
I called up BMW in Canberra and they said I would need an FSC and IBAC code with labour, coming out at over $1000.
This is for a 2016 M4.
Other posts are just saying only the FSC is required.

Can anyone confirm that after the speed limit display is activated in pre-lci models, that the info is actually coming from roadside signs and not just from the mapping database? In other words, is a camera supplementing the mapping info by actually reading roadside signs to override what may be out of date mapping speed limits?

Yes it's the camera that does most of the speed limit info. I know this because it gets the speed limit bang on when going through road works etc. It is very accurate

Just message Shawn Sheridan on the forum. He will link you in to someone that will Remote

Be aware you will loose all coding.
