Low Flying Aircraft (AW F80 Blog)
Hello all! I just purchased my first M3 from Porsche in Arlington VA. It’s a one owner 2015 model with 33,000 miles, the previous owner was an older gentleman who traded it for a Panamera GTS.
The car is 100% stock and fully optioned including Carbon Ceramic Brakes and a M Performance exhaust from the factory (which is of course cracked). I’m coming out of a 2018 LCI M2 with full bolt ons and a BM3 E30 tune. This car is already a whole different beast even in stock form, I am so happy with my decision. I plan to paint correct the car and have the exhaust repaired this month. Future plans will be Eibach V1 Springs, the Turner Flush Kit and a M Performance or Lightweight front lip. I would like to flash it with a BM3 stage one tune eventually but I want to learn the car with its stock tune first. I also think it could benefit from a less restrictive DSC map as the non comp one is quite intrusive. I’m also considering getting the crank hub sorted so I won’t have that worry in the back of my mind as I do plan to do a few track days at Summit Point and mild ecu tuning. Here are some pictures. |

The last couple months of ownership have been incredible. I find every excuse to drive this car, I honestly enjoy it a lot more than my old M, the increased refinement in the whole driving experience and the high-strung character of the S55 is exactly what I was longing for with my pervious N55 cars.
One of the first orders of business was to restore the headlights, I used the Griot's Ceramic kit with impressive results. After a lot of contemplation and research I opted to change from the cracked MPE to a Turner Motorsport cat-back exhaust, Brother's Garage in Alexandria installed it for me. I think it's the best sounding exhaust for the S55, it has a smooth and refined tone with zero rasp and the build quality is excellent. A few weeks later I installed EMD 12.5MM spacers all around and had Brother's install Euro V1 Eibach springs and perform an alignment. The car rides very close to the OEM springs with a little less body roll and sharper turn in, the stance is perfect for my taste. Here are some pictures of the exhaust and the new stance. Plans for this year are to have a paint correction and coating carried out, the crank hub addressed and then a 93 octane tune. Happy New Year to one and all! |

Cars looking great. I also went from my F87 to my F82. I agree with all your points, the s55 is so much more enjoyable than the n55 (other than sound). The F80/F82 itself is more refined and comfortable but still handles great with less compromises than the F87 Imo.
