Climate Control SYNC

Igor_M5 and I have been discussing this. Need to open it up discussion to some other advanced coders.

As you are well aware, the F3x/F8x platform does not have a sync button so both sides controls need to be adjusted instead of just one. It is probably the biggest ongoing complaints about the system.

Looking at the G20 interior shots, it seems this is also missing on the Upcoming G platform as well.

Examining the i8 platform, the Climate Control DOES have a Sync button in the left hand knob. See photo below.

Though the covering on the front panel has a slight difference, it appears that just about everything else is essentially from the F3x/F8x Climate Control.

As thus, would seem that one of these units could be retrofitted to a F platform and Sync coded.

For broad strokes, appears 2013 - 2015 i8 are IHKA and 2016+ I8 are IHKA3.

Cannot speak for the displays.

So.....can any experts (who most likely know the F1x platform where Sync exists) venture any detailed guesses on how one would code Sync to work on a F3x/F8x platform?

This is not an answer to your question, but ...

When I got my M4, I was prepared to be very pissed off about the lack of a synch function, but I found something that works just as well for me. I set both temps to 70F, and use the temp wheel under the center vents to make minor adjustments as needed. With that, I've found that I never need to adjust the actual temp control knobs. Just my $0.02.

I do the exact same thing. Temp stays at 70 and fine tune with knob.

Was also expecting to hate the lack of a sync, but I've been doing the same exact thing and find I much prefer it. I haven't touched the temp knobs since I picked up the car.

Still doesn't make the lack of a sync button/function excusable imo...

literally only put about 100km on my 2017 F80 and already adjusting both knobs annoys the sh1t out of me lol. i appreciate this suggestion and will give it a try, however. i think it's funny how my $102K car has dual zone but not single zone like literally every other car on the road lol. whatever i'd never give it up for anything else on the road but between us girls this is super damn annoying

As a side note - I find the whole dual zone AC system that every car has now to be completely unwarranted and somewhat annoying. I have yet to ever experience the need to have two different temps as either a passenger or driver. The whole thing just seems very unnecessary.

For what it's worth, my wife's X1 has sync button.

I'm so glad I found this thread. I picked up my car Saturday night and since then I've been trying to figure it out. My frustration level was off the damned charts lol.

They left out the "SYNC" button to save weight in the M3/M4.

Worst for me. My girlfriend believed I brought other girls into my car because the passenger side temp was changed!

Question Does it fit in F series?

Did anyone ever do/complete this retrofit?

Would the I8 bolt directly into an F23 center stack?

Did anyone ever figure out if it can be coded (including sync button)?

Inquiring minds want to know!
