Summit Point Jefferson Circuit (Extended)

2018 M4 ZCP DCT
Cup2's 265/285
CarboTech XP12/10

6/24/18- Fastest Lap 1:24.49/ Temp 85 degrees, sealer from #4 through #10 and tons of bumps compared to 2015-16.

2015 M4 Manual
PSS 255/275
CarboTech XP12/10

5/12/15- Fastest Lap 1:24.25/ Temp 60 degrees, Freshly paved extension

I was expecting the new ZCP on Cup2's to crush the times set by the 2015 Manual but the track is in such bad shape that you can't get back to power through most of the quicker corners (4,5,6,9,10) on the extension. I definitely won't be back until its repaved to the level of the main circuit. I ran 1:15.69 on the main last month which is almost 3.5 seconds quicker than my old car there before the repave. Just to give an idea of how much faster and smother the new surface is, temps, tires, and gearbox helped as well.

Thanks so much to those of you that post your time on one line with all your info like TWT did above. It makes it much easier to just copy and paste it to the big board instead of having to sift through your post manually.

Other news is that I currently do not own an M4 anymore, the Porsche people took it. I do still plan to maintain the board for the foreseeable future. After all, I wouldn't be surprised if I got another M4 again in the next couple of years. Happy Tracking!

Much better!! Congrats, now with the gts you can fly through corners like you intended.

Thompson full 1.7 course

1:22.47 tke743 M3 ZCP (r888r, rs29)

Racechrono with 10hz GPS

Lime Rock

1:01.63 tke743 M3 ZCP (r888r, rs29)

Racechrono with 10hz GPS

Note on those Toyo R888R tires. They're good for some decent lap times, but only one or two laps at a time. Then you have to back it out for two laps to cool them down before they grip comes back. Not really happy with them. Works well with Lime Rock where clean laps are rare, but on Thompson I had to dial it back myself and this makes for some inconsistent lap times.

Note on the adaptive suspension. It works great on smooth tracks, but on bumpy ones it's a mess. I gave up over a second braking early into Thompson turn 1. There are bumps between the 4 and 2 boards in the braking zone and if I was deep into the brakes durring those bumps the car was unsettled and wouldn't re-settle before the turn in. This was a consistent issue and caused me to brake early, let off a bit for the bumps, and then complete the braking. The high speed rebound and compression on this thing is a mess. Is everyone else having this issue?

Tried both DSC Off and Euro MDM. Same issues. Note that clean laps for MDM were about 1.5 seconds slower on both tracks. Major difference was how the car drives out of the corners. Euro MDM doesn’t like my tendency to grab a little throttle early for rotation.

Yes, many (myself included) have observed the same with the stock dampers on the M3/4. They aren't great (Ok, they suck). Braking from high speed and/or over road deviations can cause the car (and driver) to become unsettled. There weren't too many high speed courses that I frequented with the M3/4 to be a major problem for me at tracks days, but it used to annoy the crap out of me on the street when there were road seams etc.

R888R pretty much as bad as the old R888.

I think aftermarket dampers, those wide 18" wheels from APEX, and Nitto NT01s is the sweet spot for a good track car using this platform.

Well I have the wide Apex wheels, (ditching the R888R's soon for NT-01's), and I just had Ohlins installed. We'll see how that goes.

As to Thompson, braking from the 130's to 40's for turn 1 (with the bumps) definitely unsettled the car and this driver. Not a brown pants moment, but not fun.

Regrettably the 25th is a no due to family vacation. Palmer is a maybe. That’ll be my first time on Palmer.

I want more time on Lime Rock as my Big Bend is still way to inconsistent for my tastes.

I’m waiting for a copy without watermark, but I have a great pic on Thompson where I got the inside rear off the ground on turn 10. I’m hoping the Ohlins will make this thing more stable at speed. (I also have to make a decision on the M2Comp in the next few days. I’m next on the allocation list locally. )

Still working on the coding on TPMS. I have it, just need to fine tune the variables and get it into Bimmercode.

Sonoma

Hey guys. Just bought my first BMW Sunday. Took it out to Sonoma a few hours later, bone stock on OEM Super Sports. Boy does it need brakes! Steady 1.54/55's for the first sessions and then I blew out the right front tire. Only got in 10 laps or so but I think it'll be a good platform on which to build. I'll head back after I put brakes and real tires on it.

Sonoma Raceway
1:54:419 RPMaddict 2015 M4 DCT bone stock.

Don't have video but here's the results (33507):

As payment for keeping up with this lap time thread, I'm posting my 991.1 GTS times here too.

Did my first TT sessions in the Porsche. I'm in TT3, which is technically "small bore" but there's a few extremely fast cars/drivers in the group including an 8 time national TT champion. Needless to say, I had some good rabbits to chase. The GTS is stock except for cup2 tires (180 tread ware) instead of the pzeros. All the other cars in the TT3 group are on Hoosiers. I put down my personal best lap ever in the porsche today of 1:02.7. The other cars were in the 1:01 range. FYI, the TT3 group was faster than all the "big bore" cars except one, lol!

My best lap here in my 2015 M4 was 1:04.88 on R888's and my best lap in my E36 M3 race car was 1:03.4 on NT01's I believe. The race car runs consistent high 1:03's here, where as the GTS might have been a "hero" lap, nevertheless I'm pleased with the time for a street car.

Get that push out of the P-car... Nice video. Did you have the Go Pro suction mounted to the sunroof?

Yes, suctioned to the glass sunroof. Funny thing is, I would not have ordered a GTS with one, but I’m so glad I have it on this pre-owned one. Gives me some extra head room too.

Gotta get cambers plates. Could only get -1.6 camber in the front. Should help with that push.

What will all this Porsche talk, I got a little envious and decided to break all the rules for this thread.

Here is me at the Ring this Sunday, with my brand spanking new M3 individual.

Time: no idea
Weather: Sunny with temps around 18C
Suspension: ZCP stock EDC
Tires: Stock Michelin PS4
Brakes: Stock steelies

I know that the new HDI insurance doesn't cover the Ring, so me and my buddy rented a VLN E90 325 race car from Ring Freaks. Did a few laps in that, and noticed that:
- I am comfortable managing both the slow and the fast (!) traffic.
- The E90 was hard to drive even at 80-90% - very stiff, very light and uncommunicative steering. I'm not a pro, what can I say.
- I always knew where I was on the track, and was comfortable driving on the line as well as off (passing and being passed).
- I badly wanted my pictures with my M3 on the Ring - based on what BMW is currently doing, it may become harder and harder to do it in the future.

So I took it out for 2 laps, running "adc special break-in rules" (had about 900km on the odo). Even like this, without redlining or flooring the throttle at every opportunity, I was significantly quicker than my buddy in the E90. And more importantly, I had an absolute blast!!

ZCP on track impressions - definitely a bit better than my 2015. Sport mode was great, and so was Sport+ (I wasn't going fast enough or for sufficient laps to compare the two). Understeer was manageable, the car took the incredible bumps in style, and I'd go back in a minute.

My word, what a track!!!

The day before we attended Quali for the F1 race at Spa. After the Ring, we drove the B500 in the Black Forrest, did the break-in service in Munich, drove to Italy and did the Stelvio, then a bucket full of other Alpine passes, and tomorrow we're heading to Maranello. We're booked for Ferrari tours, Lambo tour, Pagani tour, and last but not least, the F1 race in Monza.

I'll post a separate ED thread with pics, videos, and more details. Meanwhile, Tschuss from Andermatt!

Really nice day with the rain holding off despite the constant threat. Second time ever visiting Lightning. Starting to learn my way around but still have some room for improvement. 1:15 flat in this video. Dipped into the 1:14s but didn't get it recorded with Harry's Lap Timer analytics.

Working on whittling away some time towards the 1 min mark. Have been making progress but still need to find about half a second. I think the car has the capability in it, just need the perfect day with cool weather, a lap with no traffic and a clear mind.

Working on whittling away some time towards the 1 min mark. Have been making progress but still need to find about half a second. I think the car has the capability in it, just need the perfect day with cool weather, a lap with no traffic and a clear mind.

LRP with Patroon
Best lap from event: 1:00.66
2017 BMW M2
Nitto NT01 275/35/18 square
Apex SM-10 18x10 33ET square
Bilstein B16 PSS10 (run at full stiffness 10 clicks front/8 clicks rear)
Ground Control Camber Plates at 3.2 degrees
PFC08 brake pads
