We went with CCW because we felt that everyone has been doing BBS, HRE, and Volk Racing since forever. We wanted to change up the style a bit, not to mention, showcase wheels that are not out to the public yet and weigh almost nothing. You can literally lift the wheel with your pinky. The fact that anyone is arguing against CCW is astonishing to me.

According to your theory, these race cars are all slow because they're using 'lipped' wheels, which have a correlation to being 'heavy':

Also, this quip was taken from a wheel/tire company's website:

"This type of wheel utilizes two or three components assembled together to produce a finished wheel. Multi-piece wheels can use many different methods of manufacturing. Centers can be cast in various methods or forged. The rim sections for 3-piece wheels are normally spun from disks of aluminum. Generally, spun rim sections offer the ability to custom-tailor wheels for special applications that would not be available otherwise. The rim sections are bolted to the center and normally a sealant is applied in or on the assembly area to seal the wheel. This type of 3-piece construction was originally developed for racing in the early 1970s and has been used on cars ever since. The 3-piece wheels are most popular in the 17" and larger diameters.

There are now many options for 2-piece wheels in the market. The 2-piece wheel design does not offer as wide a range of application that a 3-piece wheel allows, however they are more common in the market and the prices start well below the average 3-piece wheel. Some 2-piece wheels have the center bolted into a cast or cast/spun rim section and other manufacturers press centers into spun rim sections and weld the unit together. When BBS developed a new 2-piece wheel to replace the previous 3-piece street wheel, they used the special rim-rolling technology (originally developed for racing wheels) to give the rim section the weight and strength advantages similar to a forged rim. On the high-end of the 2-piece wheel market you can find wheels using forged rims and forged centers. Since these are only sold in small volume and due to the high development and production costs associated with the forging process, they tend to be on the high end of the price scale."

Thank you for taking my statement and turning it into something I didn't say. How much do the wheels weigh? All i'm saying is a wheel with a lip (like the ones on this car) will weigh more than a 1pc forged wheel without a lip.

There are other purposes of racing wheels than just being light weight.
First and foremost is strength and the ability to be stiff and not deflect. If they deflect, it will screw up the alignment and won't allow the suspension to work properly. Yes, many good wheel companies have this taken care of, but it does make a difference from manufacturer to manufacturer (case in point, the Corvette Racing team switched from BBS to OZ and realized the OZ deflected more and they switched back to BBS). Both great one-piece forged wheels, but different performance.
I agree that a one-piece forged has the possibility to be lighter (not all are) and would be the ultimate in performance. There are other benefits to a multi-piece wheel like being able to replace a rim-half rather then the entire wheel if it gets banged up on the course.
Believe me, you're preaching to the choir here when it comes to weight savings (look at my sig). The fact that they used a wheel that was born on the race track is a huge plus rather than just bling! They just need to get rid of those under performing Nitto tires for some proper rubber

Thats not what you said at all. Someone said "proper racing wheels" and you said "totally disagree, racing wheels are SUPPOSED to be light." This insinuates that this is NOT a racing wheel because it has a lip and can not be light as long as it has a lip or that it cant be a racing wheel.

Communicate clearly so you dont have to back paddle.

We literally installed the exhaust and it immediately went onto the semi before we even thought of capturing a sound clip; we were on a time crunch. After SEMA we will upload an exhaust clip.

I will definitely add the exhaust to the mod list. I can't believe I forgot about that
