The answer to your question is that you need to use e-sys to update your REM to a software version that is 2016 or newer. When using e-sys, there is a function for editing your cars FA (vehicle order) so that you can add a special option code for LCI Tail lights that instructs the car to use the correct coding parameters when you code your modules. When you are in the FA editor, you expand the section titled 'HO-WORT', right-click into it and add the word 'HELC'. The is what the FA editor looks like, adding in the 'HELC' key word: Description of HELC in the files: The coding steps are laid out in detail in this thread here but again it requires that you already have the right version of e-sys set up and running: https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1174188 |

I have everything set up software wise with E-Sys 3.33 which as far as I can find is the newest version out there right now. The screenshots you placed are very nice for us newbees Only thing that is unclear to me is your remark that the REM software version needs to be updated using E-Sys. Is this some kind of firmware that is included in any download I need to find? And perform installing this software package before coding the settings. Or is this 'update' you mention just changing the HELC setting that you are referring too. In case the former is the question, does this 2016> firmware for the REM module have a certain name, or version number and where can I obtain it? |

That would explain the silence.
Joking aside - I think the inner lights are the issue for coding with bimmercode 👍 Last edited by Daggers; 10-12-2020 at 11:14 AM.. |

Yes, Bimmercode can code the LCI taillights, however, you need to have a more recent version of software to illuminate the inner light, regardless of which method is used.

Inner light signals are the issue, but I have heard it being done via expert mode.

Did any of you guys have issues with your trunk/rear cam/inner taillights not working after the install? I haven't tried coding yet, but I figured this has to be a wiring issue if NOTHING on the trunk is working.

Fortunately, it's much easier to do now. It's all possible in easy mode:

Using an aftermarket harness (EAS) vs the OEM method might work out better (so I hear)

Define "didn't work". Even without coding, most of the lamps are still operational.

Now that you know what's needed, finding someone that can perform the task should be relatively easy.
