Germany Speeding Ticket

Hello All,

While in Germany I got a speeding ticket (21 EURO). I am willing to pay this ticket, but the letter is in German and there isn't a website listed. I think they want me to wire money, but considering there is a $50 wire fee, and I don't have money in Europe - they can go pound sand.

Anyone have another method of paying? Do they have a website, or can this be worked through with the Welt?

Regards

Avi

Paging GrussGott

I think he got a ticket in almost all of the Western European countries during his last ED.

Not sure if it's possible, but check out a company called TransferWise if you have to wire the money - costs WAY less. From the same guys who invented Skype I believe - very well backed and reputable. I've used them a couple of times.

That's only funny because it's true... My 2 cents is pay it, Germans aren't as bad as the Swiss, but it could cause you headaches down the road if you ever plan on going to Germany or the EU again.

There should be a number on the ticket, you'll want to call it and figure it out. We did a transfer based on their instructions but it was only a few bucks I think. And you'll have to find someone who speaks English and it'll be a small hassle. We've still got an outstanding Belgium ticket that's "being processed" 18 months later... Swiss and Germans on the other hand... They know how to get their money.

Whatever it costs, it'll be a lot cheaper than from the customs holding cell you could find yourself in the next time you try to enter the EU.

How about just getting a draft in euros and mail it the old way to the address that is the one one the letter that is in German (if there is one?).

And I just found out this is not a speeding ticket, it's a driving in Germany tax. Has anyone else gotten this? I've reached out to my sales guy and the Welt.

It is this: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=845334

I put mine away when I received it for my M6GC ED almost two years ago. I haven't heard anything since, and I look forward to receiving another one soon.

Yes - ignore this.
We all did.

It's Germany use tax that is not applicable to ED cars.

It's simply the receipt for the tax BMW paid for your zoll registration. You don't need to do anything with it or pay anything further. Put it in your ED memory box.

It's not a receipt because it says the money is still owed. Seems like this is something bmw should have paid for as part of the temporary registration.

If it bothers you and you want it off your mind, let me know. I'm happy to help. I still have a German bank account with PayPal attached to it, so if you want it paid just message me.

Based on that document something is. I'm from Germany and can read it. It does not say that it's been paid. It says it needs to be paid.

The OP is not obligated to pay anything. BMW handles it directly. Owners always receive a copy because the car is registered in their name.

That makes sense and I would have assumed it's something bmw should pay. I was strictly going off of what the document said. Thanks for clarifying that bmw pays it!

A handy app that my CA showed me is the Google Translate which can be enabled to use your camera and translate to English from many languages. You hover yr phone over the foreign text (while aligning it thru your phone's camera) and it converts it to English in real time. Not perfect, but a good crutch!

Yep, we have all received this. Paid by BMW. But if you want confirmation, just email BMWEuropeanDelivery@bmwna.com and they will tell you to ignore it as well.
