I first got up to speed with MDM and then turned everything off and slowed down again. Then slowly got up to speed and then some. Just have to slow it down and learn control and you won't hit anything. Besides you gotta look where you want to go so in fact I don't even see walls anymore.

I'd appreciate that, I'm running in the intermediate group. I'm assuming you'll be in the advanced?
Yes. I'll be there with a few others so swing by. I'll be the black sedan 86.

In the E92, at least, Euro MDM was very helpful to me. It let me get accustomed to feeling the car start to slip out from underneath me, and react to it by countersteering and correcting. I couldn't be sure it was me doing the "saving", but it got me in the mindframe. Having feedback also in the form of the light flashing on the dash to let me know I was at the limit was helpful too.

Such that, when I did exactly what M3 Number 86 did, went full DSC off, went slower than my MDM time on, but it built my confidence in that when the car started to slip, the practice I had "correcting" the steering was valid. I incrementally started increasing speed.

I did have that spin right before bus stop, haha, but I think going back and watching it, I reacted far too slowly when the car started to slide until it was not recoverable.

Seeing those make me want to start driving with traction completely off rather than euro mdm... I've been practicing car control with my G27/Gran Turismo 5 simulator at home but have way less to lose playing that game haha.
For me, my experience with GT5/Forza 6 has been hilariously opposite. I can countersteer and correct bad things from happening immediately in my real car, but there is no proper feel even with a force feedback steering wheel and racing chair/pedals. I guess I can feel when the car is about to slide just from the feeling I get in my seat that just doesn't apply. I cannot control slides at all in GT5/Forza 6

We are all trying to get better. I'm not the fastest but I'm pretty good at car control lol.

I usually rely on tire sound and just the direction the car is facing, as soon as I can see any slip I am quick to correct as I've found that it's really easy to correct late and spin in GT5. Here's a video of me applying some of that GT5 to real life at the Balcony at Willow Springs following a track day at Streets. That was the only time I've been on a skid pad and it was a lot of fun. I definitely want to go back out there again to do a drift day.

That is an incredibly good Sebring time for a car with stock tires!
I was expecting a 2:30 at best!
You must have been driving it exceptionally well.

How did the tires hold up? Where you on stock alignment specs?

Thanks guys

Stock car/alignment, fairly new Conti 5P, great weather, tires held up great. While the Contis tend to chunk on hot days, they are still pretty fast when new, and in cold weather I was surprised with their durability and consistency.

Id like to back to back 5P & PSS, but in cool weather I'm not sure how much faster the PSS would be, which are significantly faster and more durable on hot days.

..still slower than a stock Hellcat (2:25.8)

Jesus Christ! Less than a second separating you from a 700+HP car on a total horsepower-oriented track? Very impressive I'd say. You'da probably beat or matched it just swapping back the stock PSS's..

I dont really like the term "horsepower track" or "handling track", but I digress; the M4 was within 4mph of the HC (which is almost 1,000lbs heavier, an aero brick, has long gears and slower than DCT shifts) on the back straight, so the HC had to have decent cornering speeds...

Great stuff! I'd love to watch that lap. Do you have any videos of it by any chance?
I'm also curious to what time you'd be able to get in the same stock M4 running Buttonwillow 13CW

You could say that...professional driver, aka winner of the opening round of Continental Tire Series at Daytona.

Have not tested there in the RC, I'll let you know tomorrow but judging by the IMSA test last month, it should be in the 2:16-17 range. In most of the testing and development, the 350R street car was within a second or two of the 350RC on numerous tracks. So I'd guess sub 20s.

I saw that. Impressive..........that the street car is only a few seconds off. Billy, is that with identical tires?
