Off is good for some play but - all the time is an accident waiting to happen if you ask me.

Im so confused about this and iv had my M4 for 2 years. I haven't even launched this, just waiting for the weather to get better.

The M1 button for me is setup like this. DSC OFF (dashboard) Sport +(engine) Sport +(suspension) Sport (Steering) Gearbox S3

The above iv always had saved but recently did MDM, the car felt so much more powerful and aggressive.

So the new M1 setup is everything above including MDM.

My question is with M1 setup with MDM am i completely with traction off (DSC OFF) but have some intervention from MDM ?

Been there done that.

Keep the mdm on at least, all it takes is once when you aren't paying attention, hit a gravel patch or otherwise have to do an emergency manaveur.

If you turn everything off you better know the road you are on inside out and the limits on this said road.

our north american mdm is absolutely brutal. i drive in it at all times, dry, wet, snow, ice and it is like full dsc should be. I don't even know what full dsc is really as I only have ever used it in the pouring rain. mdm still cuts in all the time. You can't kick the back end out with it with any kind of hold. It understeers and brakes and cuts power. this car is actually a bit frustrating as with tight roads and high curbs it's way to dangerous to drive full dsc off but yet it doesn't have a mode that allows you to do what you want to with a rwd car. the porsche system seems much better designed as they have thought about what most of "us" want to do with a high powered rwd car and it almost helps you.

I have heard a lot of talk about this 'euro mdm' mode. i should pay for some coding as it seems like it is much more of what i'm looking for. If anyone reading this has gone from the NA mdm to euro please comment. I will search some threads as well.

Raced an AMG with traction off from a 40 mph roll and in MDM. I did better in the rolls with MDM. Very significant difference. The weird thing is that I wasn't really spinning that badly with traction off. Mostly on the shifts. With racing, being smooth is important and I feel like MDM makes pulls more smooth because it cuts torque/power when you shift into the new gear

MDM is simply a more permissive tuning of the DSC that allows for a higher slip threshold. So in MDM, DSC is still on. New regulation make this misleading as manufacturers now need to display the “DSC Off” icon on the dashboard when in sportier DSC modes, when in fact DSC is not really fully off. In was more straightforward in the E9X days, where no light meant DSC fully on, “MDM” light meant DSC in MDM mode, and “DSC off” light really meant DSC off.

On a good grip surface, the F8X will be faster with DSC fully off than with either full DSC or MDM activated. There is no question about that.

MDM is crazy intrusive but it allows a little more slip than DSC on.

You probably feel like MDM is more aggressive than DSC off because DSC off you have to modulate the throttle to control slip. MDM will still cut power to let you recapture grip faster with a heavy foot.

MDM blows - unless it's raining.

This.

Especially early model 15-16 F8X's.

You can turn it off pin it and send yourself into a lane divider, the F8X platform is not the platform to be turning off TC and gunning it.
