Having sampled the new M4 and owned/own E92 M3 and F10 M5, i feel that the M4 is the one that came out worst with this turbo charging. The M4 is in every conceivable way, far better than the E92! Cant say the same abt the sound it makes unfortunately. In sport plus throttle, i find the car down right noisy and intrusive. I am waiting on the LCI + comp pack and hopefully, a decent perf exhaust to improve on things.

Now THAT is funny!
My reaction was similar, except I kept watching a little longer. One thing I noticed in this video; they constantly talked about comfort, looks, and engine... Where is the focus on handling people? The original M3 was no powerhouse, it was a scalpel. Now everyone is all engine... |

Anyway, though Top Gear mag did keep one for a year as a DD, the fact that doing so was a gimmick tells me it isn't really a DD.....it is a super car (if you prefer) that can be used everyday, but that is something different. |

I love my M4 more and more each day even the shittiest day turns good when you feel all that torque at your disposal and the handling is perfect! That said i still give a thumbs up and turn my head every time I see an E46 M3 even after all these years that design and noise is intoxicating.

The new M4 is easily the fastest and most sophisticated of the three cars. I suspect years from now the E92 will be the most coveted by collectors because of its high revving V8, a species becoming extinct due to the emphasis on efficiency.

There was almost no "comparison." Certainly very little as to performance. There were "comments" and "likes." Not the same thing. For my time ... I would have found the article far more informative with the three people driving and commenting on the cars they did NOT own or bring. THAT would have been interesting and valuable. (SCBMW02 - agreed. The E36 variant is the lost, overlooked, hidden child of the bunch. A sweet combination of increased power and light weight. It is too bad that almost all of them have been subject to a huge number of miles and many cheap mods. Very few left in good stock condition, which means fewer people will know of the generation's capability.) |

After all these years I have still kept my E46 M3. I just can't come to terms with selling it. Only car I am willing to trade it with is a 650i GC or M3 Sedan. Lol may very well lease for once.
