No brainer.

F8x vs 981 GT4?
They are catered for different types of people.

GT4 will give you totally different experience.

Looks like market on GT4 is softening a bit as well... you may be able to find a good example for under 100k soon.

FWIW I yesterday a good friend and myself were at a TD on Mexico City's F1 track. I brought my GT4 and Rafa brought his M3CS. We had the chance to swap cars and compare back to back on track performance.

We both couldn't catch the CS when driving the GT4. The CS gets away from the GT4 relatively easily. What most surprised me was that (both cars absolutely stock) the GT4 understeers a lot with the CS having frankly more fun out of the box handling characteristics IMO. The CS is about even with the GT4 on the twisty parts and quite a bit faster on the straights.

Consider that this track is at 7,300ft ASL which is a huge con for N/A cars like the GT4. On a sea level track things would be different.

The CS is undoubtedly an amazing beast.

Can you possibly tell me what the angle of approach for ground clearance is on the GT4 vs the M3 CS? Does the GT4 have a longer nose in front of the wheels?

He mentions the CS belongs to his friend so both cars might not be readily at hand for him to measure.

If you want, I can measure my GT4 and M4 GTS as long as you tell me what point to what point you want measured. I don't have a CS but you could prolly get a good approximation considering the additional GTS splitter sticks out one inch further than the CF spoiler that it shares with the CS

The GT4 is by far a lot more prone to scraping than the CS. The overhang is longer and the car sits lower. So much that that front lip is basically an expendable maintenance item.

I've had the CS for about 6 months now and 6,000km using it almost daily and no scrapes. Not one. I am careful with it but frankly it's been a lot better than expected.

pay 100k for a used GT4 and sell it in 2-3 years for 90k. put down 50k, finance the rest for about 800/month for 60 months. you will need a cheap beater to get around though and keep miles low.

Or buy a new M4CS for 100k. And after 2-3 years its worth 60k. Or lease it for 800 a month, zero down... and youre still about ~$30k in payments.

you tell me who comes out on top?? for me its the GT4 easily. That guy has an extra 20-30k in his pocket when it comes time to sell compared to the M4 guy.

It “should” work that way, but my friend is finding out the hard way when trying to sell his gt3rs that the market could soften at any time and he is getting a lot less than he thought

Not to mention if you get an accident history on the car that could tank the value

true. there is always the risk of getting into a fender bender and tanking your cars value. most people will get a lawyer for diminished value on the vehicle if that happens. And is your friend getting lowballs from a dealer or private party offers?

the market can always soften. The GT3 market took a big blow when the 991.2 gt3 was announced with a manual transmission. I remember when 2016 gt3rs cars were going for 350k+ and 991R's were like 7-800k. now look at them

I think everyone was going for the lowball. Got to get them cuz you want them and drive em hard, not to bubble wrap. My $0.02

From reading about others' experiences, diminished value cases can be difficult.

For what it's worth 911R is still selling for over $100k more than original msrp. Cheapest one for sale is $280k, with the rest of them selling for over $300k. Prices did sky rocket at one point, until Porsche decided to stick it to resellers.

Porsche really disliked how the 911Rs were being basically hoarded and bubble wrapped for resale. They wanted them to be driven, and I don't blame them.
