Anyone with an ESS tune...

I've got a 6 speed manual and my concern is that throttle response is way too sensitive for me under sport mode. Efficient is fine, no problems there but sport is kinda difficult for normal city driving.
I can drive it fine without being too jumpy but it takes precise pedal work.

Am I just bad at driving my manual F80
Or is there something up with the ESS tune.

ESS is the only company that would tune my M3 if I was going to tune, for sure.

I find even the stock map jerks and buckles at times, especially with the engine cold. It's pretty crazy.

In previous cars I've had tuned I usually ask for linear throttle maps, as the herky-jerky-ness drives me crazy

I wouldn't look at anything other than Bootmod3 for F and G series !

Yes, I had the ESS tune. I was not happy with their customer service at all, and I was a bit disappointed with certain aspects of the tune, though on the whole it was okay. I’ve since switched to BM3 and I am happier with it.

I have a DCT. I didn’t have a problem with the throttle mapping of either tune, and they were very similar in this regard. Yes, S+ is very sensitive, and I can certainly understand why some people prefer a long throttle, but I like the fact that S+ keeps the turbos spooled to reduce the lag.

Although I have DCT, I had the VF tune for over a year and had the same issues but on efficient it was horrible too. Actually its a POS. The car would just jump forward. You can't drive in sport or sport plus because its too jerky. I flashed back to stock and decided to give BM3 a shot after reading a lot of reviews. Contacted Justin.AutoTalent and I cannot be happier. The car is so smooth in efficient, sport and sport plus. If you don't want to spend money on a new tune I would just drive it stock. If you still want they extra power BM3 is the way to go.

ESS provides a solid tune, very drivable on the street and makes plenty of power safely. They know these platforms in and out.

I experienced hyper tip in throttle as well when I had an Ess tune on my e92. I hated it. Not shocked to hear this on f80 side.

Bootmod3 all the way if you ask me.
