CTEK Battery Charger

Hey guys,

So I just bought a CTEK charger and hooked it up to my battery. It’s been about 30 min and it stuck on stage 2! I read the manual and it says it might take 8 hrs! Is that normal? I drove the car yesterday! And the charger is getting really hot!

Did you get the Ctek suitable for a Lithium battery? The M3 has an expensive lithium battery which needs a special kind of charger.

Also - just checking, are you trickle charging from the terminals under the bonnet not directly on the battery?

It is a trickle charger, so it does take a while to charge our large batteries. Mine has never been what I would consider very hot while charging, but a little warmth is ok. As long as you bought the right charger, have it set on the LiFePO4 car batt mode, you should be fine.

Yes I bought the right one. It’s good now, went to stage 7 last night. Thank you all.
