Got a CEL after spark plug change.

I just installed new NGK 1 step colder spark plugs. The car started right up and idled welll, but the check engine light is on.

I made sure to seat all coil packs and plugs well during the install.

Any thoughts?

My car has 45k miles, comp with bm3 stage 1. Coils all looked good.

Before doing the plugs, I was getting a drivetrain error message. That's gone for now.

Read the codes. Preferably with a scan tool that can read bmw specific codes. No point in guessing. Look for misfires and knock events.

Could potentially be gas quality. Also consider going to stock temp plugs. I’ve been running BM3 stage 1 with stock Bosch plugs for the past 50k miles and never had issues.

Thanks. I checked the codes with bm3. They were exhaust related. Cleared the codes and the CEL went out. However, after driving 10 mins the CEL came back and so did the drivetrain malfunction. Grr. I'll scan it again when I get home and see what the codes are.

Okay, so I have 3 codes and they don't look to having anything to do with the spark plugs, misfires or coil packs. Unfortunately, from what I've read they're worse. My car is a 6 speed manual.

130E20 - intake camshaft angularl offset
103F20 - exhaust angular offset
12408 - pressure control
