Can misfires trigger a Drivetrain Malfunction?

I just randomly had it pop up today, last time it happened was when my stock TMIC failed. I've pulled the codes and I'm only seeing multiple misfires, I AM due for new plugs as I'm tuned and at about 12k on the NGKs.

I restarted the car and all is well again, runs smooth. The only thing that I've noticed since I've decided to check the coolant levels is that the VRSF TMIC is very warm, IIRC the stock one was cold to the touch and only got hot after it started failing.
