Everyone cares about how much things cost. And a 70K is a LOT of money for a depreciating asset. |

They depreciate at the same rate, but the more you spend on the car is the more you spend on depreciation. |

As OP stated he plans to keep this for years as a low mileage car, he'll be under water when the G80 hits the market in 3 years. ZEC and ZCP are a must.

Well, my current M3 had an MSRP of $71,745 (6-Spd so not a stripper but, not fully loaded either). It's ordered replacement has an MSRP of $89,560 (wolf whistle)... so I say go for a more loaded vehicle!

I ordered my 18 M3 with just the comp pack and leather seats.. I had a loaded M4 and realized I didn’t use the extra goodies too often. I think the lines on the bumpers look cleaner without parking sensors. One day I’ll buy the electronic M wheel to kind of fill the void of no HUD.

I picked up a ZCP F80 stripper yesterday. Honestly, even the stripper seems to be pretty well stacked (comfort access, CF trim, power seats, BT, NAV, HK sound, folding mirrors, backup camera, heated seats, blah blah). Other than leather, there is literally nothing else I see any value in.
I paid 64k... which could never happen fully loaded. |

Oh and the dealer didn’t realize they put an mpe on the car in between when I looked at the car and when we finalized the deal. So I got that thrown in for free. 73.8k Msrp, 66.2k sales price plus free mpe. I also don’t miss any of the other options, I actually like the speed cloth interior, and love the seats. Zcp is a must have for me, anything else other than carbon roof and manual. can take it or leave it. |

tells me that the exhaust was installed in between me test driving it and finalizing the deal. they no longer had the stock exhaust, and they decided to honor the price. I was shocked too, but very impressed. I would have walked though if they tried to sell me the car for an extra 5000 with the exhaust. its nice to have but not worth it to me, as I was fine with the stock ZCP exhaust. to be honest in my opinion this car just doesn't sound great, its the biggest weakness. still a great car. |

Honestly, the sound is WAY overblown. I think the stock ZCP sounds excellent, and I have an S65 parked next to it in my garage. Is the S65 better? Of course, but I have no issues with the F80Z stock sound.

I’m coming out of a 911 and previously had an e92 and a 1m The f80 for sure sounds the worst of them to me. Jmo, still really enjoy the car. |

I'm a huge 'sound' guy and I have zero complaints with how my ZCP car sounds from the driver's seat. I would agree, however, that from outside the car they don't sound that good. But I could care less about how it sounds to other people when I drive by. What matters is from the driver's seat. |

I agree with the stripper approach. Leather (which should be standard on a 60k+ car anyway) and ZCP are all that is really needed the way these cars are packaged. I see all the cameras, heads up display, and radar cruise/etc. as just more stuff to break. Also, I find that I use those types of features (other than the rear view camera) almost never when driving cars that have them (I rent a lot of cars for work). |

Just a note: It's extremely hard to get a nice sports car with cloth or any form of cloth. The carbonstructure interior is fantastic - I got in a car in business casual yesterday with leather, real leather, and my lower back was swampy in about 30 seconds. I drove my carbonstructure car in 90 degree heat, high humidity and never once started sweating in the lower back or down below region. It's also required almost no maintenance and wears fantastic.
I would pay more for carbonstructure quite frankly than the f8x leather. ... In regards to sound: The f8x stock sounds only slightly better than a stock e46 m3. They both sound ....not great stock. ZCP and other options really improve it. Have I been willing to pay ~$4-5k for an MPE? Hell no. |
