I'm brand new to these boards as well, as I just purchased my first M4. I just purchased a 2015 mineral grey M4 and absolutely love it, so I say go for 2015. Mine still has 9 months of warranty on it. Prior to the M4, I bought a 2013 335i coupe (new) and loved it (my first BMW, after owing a Nissan Z, Prelude and MX-6), but the M4 is such a level above.

You can't go wrong with either year. It really comes down to what you can afford and want to spend.

It does not affect 0-60mph times as the revs would never be below 2350 RPM during a maximum acceleration launch.
This looks like CP comes still comes in at 1850.

Nice taste in fast, fun-driving cars. Thanks for the reply. I was also thinking of m340 but for the price, I can get a lower mileage M4

This is a fake chart, cartooned from the BMW specs. The CP does not have a power plateau, it actually has a power peak at 6000RPM.

No worries. It takes time to get used to the ol' F8X forum. A lot of sarcasm/jokes here haha.

To answer your question, I would go with a 17. If only because it will have low miles, iDrive 5 (which you can code iDrive 6 - the current gen), and I think it's the first year with the redesigned bed plate. Also, because I have one. Haha.

ZCP is the option code for the Competition Package in the USA. Different countries use different option codes.

As I posted previously, the new bed plate was incorporated in Dec 2015, so most MY2016 have it.
