PCV vale replacement

Hey there,

So at 116k (kms) and six year old my PCV valve has gone the fate similar to the known N55 valves...

Question, have we confirmed there PCV valve is the same on S55 vs N55 engines to replace it?

I'll be buggered if I'm going to replace the whole valve cover.

Cheers,

Dean

The PCV valve is integrated into the valve cover on both N55 and S55.

Refer to the following DIY for the economical replacement route:

Otherwise, standard repair procedure is to replace the entire valve cover. VTT is working on a billet aluminum valve cover for the N55/S55. You may want to shoot them an email for a release ETA.

I try that repair on my E70 X5 35l with a N55 engine and it didn't work, a new valve cover is the only fix.

PCV valve failed on my gf's 2015 f80 with 60k miles. loud whining noise. Dealer said only the valve cover gasket was covered, which was BS cause a new valve cover comes with the gasket and bolts already. Cover was around $575 i think from dealer plus crank vent hose n some small gasket. Took about 6 hours doing it the first time with new plugs and coils replacement. It's a nice little DIY.

2017 m3 dct - pretty sure the pcv has failed (high-pitched squealing noise when idling, goes away when oil cap is released). Going to go ahead and replace the valve cover, ordered from fcp euro. Also ordered the crankcase vent hose and new spark plugs. While I'm in there, anything else in particular I should inspect or look out for? I just hit 50k a couple weeks ago.

Replace coils maybe as well?
Get some new upgraded charge pipes?

That's all you really need, mine went out as well about 2 weeks ago, did my crank hub why I was in there. I wouldn't worry about the coils.
