Hi guys, in the process of purchasing a 2020 "CS" has 13 miles which I thought was a bit odd considering no one supposedly did a test drive. But here's what has me a tad suspicious, painted reflectors on a NEW auto?? Kind of strange to me. Would you be as concerned as myself?[IMG][/IMG]

Nothing to be concerned about. Bumper looks much better than when the Yellow reflectors are there. Makes bumper more uniform and looks like the Europeon bumpers. Many people do it. I have them on my F10 M5

That’s definitely not stock. Also it seems like the taillights have been tinted.

Why wouldn't it be stock? Unless you're thinking what I'm thinking.

Just a questions, are they telling you it’s never been titled?

If they’re telling you it’s never been titled then simply ask them who tinted the side markers on the front.

Selling as brand new. Plan on asking about the tint and side marker tomorrow. Very strange if you ask me, thanks

My guess is that the dealership did the add-ons. Not sure what the issue is?

But why? How about the tail light tint? Window tint? Dealership badge? Been buying bimmers for 20 years with no dealership mods. BTW for a car brand new and supposedly never test driven,no plastic on the inside, not even clear tape on the steering wheel badge.

My guess is that the vehicle was ordered for a customer who requested the mods be done by the dealer, then the buyer backed out before taking delivery. Could be the dealer just decided to do them... As for plastic being removed, I'm not sure what the issue is there... Does it still have 13 miles? I'm not sure what you're concerned with if the car legitimately has 13 miles.

Maybe just the fact that the dealer didn't "mention" the cosmetics, you don't find this strange in the least?? BTW, I'm not one to overreact

Not really. I've learned not to give many salesmen at dealerships too much credit. Some are absolutely excellent, but many others know very little, and don't care to learn more, about the cars on their lot. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if the seller you're dealing with, especially if it's someone who handles online sales, doesn't know anything more than what their inventory sheet says about the car.

I'm not the OP, but this is my perspective. The problem is that if these mods are something the dealer isn't disclosing, what else are they trying to hide? One of the reasons why I buy a new car is that I know it's mint from the factory floor without anyone else trying to mess around with it. I don't care if it's a dealer sticker that they put on, if it's not from the factory, I wouldn't want someone else putting it on without my say so.

It’s all very strange,,, just do your homework! I have to ask, is a dealer a reputable BMW dealer? Do you know this dealer very well have you worked with any of the salesman before? If they’re not very educated on the car I would have the same concerns ,,,what else are they not telling you.

Baby steps take your time.

Good luck

Why would you think they are purposefully trying to hide something? I have no idea how big the dealership is, or how many sellers they have there, but if it's a large dealership then the salesman that the op is talking with might legitimately know nothing about the car, and not even know that's not stock. If the car was ordered by another seller for a client with the mods requested, and the buyer bailed then the seller the op is talking with likely has no history on it. If the sales manager or someone else decided to make the mods, then again, that probably wasn't discussed with the sales team because not every seller is going to care. It's just another slot in the inventory that they might be able to sell to make some money. Not all sellers are enthusiast's who frequent M boards to learn all about them.

As for why would the dealer do the mod, maybe it's because they know I'm their area that those are some of the most common mods done, so it's am easy way for them to make the car more appealing to their market, and they can roll those costs in to justify a higher sale price. It's pretty common where I am for truck dealers to put on lifts, aftermarket rims, tires, side steps, and tint because they know that's what their customers want. They can then roll the relatively cheap mods into the sale price. The customer finances them and only cares about the monthly payment, and can then get a vehicle with the mods they want that they likely wouldn't be able to do if they had to pay for the mods themselves out of pocket after the sale.

I'm surprised a dealer would make such a change since it goes against NHTSA/DOT regulations.

My sales guy seems like a really reputable guy, pretty sure he has no knowledge of the mods. I'm not so much against these "upgrades" just believe that either in the auto's description or verbally it should have been disclosed. Not a deal breaker, right??

My first time dealing with them, they are the highest volume dealership in the state. I've purchased 8 previous bimmers, all ordered, this Is my first on the lot purchase.
