So I have a new goal in life. It isn't much, but I really need to keep this man's kids away from mine. The gene mix would be lethal.

Can you imagine the holidays with our kids and the grandbabies of the cricket man and the fireplace down taker? Unfortunately, I can.

In other news, here's a fun math trick with saving money i've discovered:

* Let's say you save 50% of your income - that means for every year you do that, you're actually funding a year of no-work fun of the same lifestyle you're living now. Not bad ... so in 10 years, you could fund a decade of no work.

* BUT - Let's say you're badass and you go 75%: really manage your shit, cut out the dinners out, etc ... tough, but IMO still easily doable for anyone with a six-figure income. That means you're actually saving 3 years of party for every year of working - you've tripled your savings! That means, if you do that for 10 years, you could fund 30 years of no work! And that's assuming that investment interest simply covers inflation (like i-bonds)- if you do better than that, then gravy on the lifestyle.

* Now for the best: what if you up from 75% to 80%? Just 5% more? HOLY SHIT - QUADRUPLE! for just 5% more!! 4 years of work-free living for every year of work, or 40 years of beachtime for 10 years of work.

Anyway, your money or your life, is my point.

They are big. I was at my dealer getting an oil change and they had one a customer ordered. They were detailing it and started it up to get out of the bay and it sounded really good. But, yah it doesn't seem like the most nimble thing and was heavily steered toward luxury/straight line speed. It did look good inside and out. And 150k plus is for that car. I'd go 911 GTS/Turbo for that money. Especially in your situation wanting a vert and no kids to put in the back seat.

Can you extend your current lease until the next gen or would that be too long in regards to warranty running out etc?

Lease extension might be a good option if they let me ... although given where rates are going I doubt it

Maybe I can sneak away with one of Arcades's cars...it'd probably take him a year to notice and by then I can just park it at the tuners and he'll think he just forgot to pick it up.

pfft like that will ever happen.

BMW doesn't have any good leases at the moment I think... that won't change for a while I think.

Happy new year folks. Can't believe 2018 is over already.

I stopped drinking a while back, so last night wasn't really much fun. I went a little crazy and had dessert.

Been working on our savings...T minus 9 yrs to anticipated retirement.. we are able to do approx 50% of "take home" pay or after tax money. That is of an 8 figure salary (if you include the decimal places... ). Thinking this % could go significant higher in 3 yrs when house and some investment property is paid off...your thought process aligns with mine on $$...On a another note, preliminary calculations indicate we will have a drop of approx 7% of effective tax rate this past year!

Thinking about selling my M4...thinking about the M5...thinking about European Delivery...

Been busy lately, hope everyone had a good holiday season.

So many mysteries ... who knew?

Anyway, I think now is a good time to point out other shit Canadians fucked with ...

See, it turns out the reason us 'mericans all sing an old tymey version of Auld Lang Syne on New Year's Eve is because in 1928 Guy Lombardo started broadcasting a NYE radio show from the Roosevelt Hotel in Manhattan, and it was pretty popular, and he played his version of Auld Lang Syne the same old tyme way every year.

He kept it up for almost 50 years. Then in the 1970s Dick Clark started playing Guy Lombardo's version of Auld Lang Syne on his Rockin' New Year's Eve show and kept it up until Ryan Seacrest took over, who still plays the Guy Lombardo version every year.

So what does all this have to do with a Canadian Conspiracy?

It turns out that Guy Lombardo's orchestra was ... THE ROYAL CANADIANS!

My wife’s old boss had a one night stand with a RCMP officer on a business trip. I guess they don’t call them Mounties for nothing.

I feel like I am going to get a lot of crap for this but I dislike having to pay for maintenance. Having to pay 1,700 today for the Macan S, 2nd year maintenance actually hurt my head. They charged me 1,300 for LABOR?!

Sigh.

Ahh, but these were no ordinary mechanics fresh out of high school my friend. Nay, didst thou not perceive the Porsche crest affixed to their outer garments? Thou wert in the presence of (wo)men both of noble character and expertise beyond compare.

(But I do sympathize with you)

I’ve heard that about them. Part of the whole “value” proposition for staying with ///M or regular BMWs.

I like the quotes around "value". The Ferrari guys probably use the exact same terminology when referring to Porsche.

And the McLaren guys about Ferrari

And the Bugatti guys about McLaren

And so on and so forth.

Yup, these are all overpriced luxuries, but you can find a bit better value here and there. It is amazing how much more expensive it is to move to even a base 911 over a regular M3/4 with everything added in.

Oil change, brake flush, front back windshield wipers... then $1,300 for labor?

BMW comes with 3-4 year maintenance, we don't pay during signing. I know Benz and Audi can, I must have missed it during the Porsche signing but having warranty then paying for maintenance is something I'm still iffy about.
