Not too concerned about space, here.
It's obviously cramped, but the only "main" reason anyone would want more space would be for aftermarket turbochargers. You can guarantee there will be downpipe upgrades, intercooler upgrades and the like. The majority of people who purchase this car aren't going to be looking to do a turbo swap, they'll be interested in tunes and bolt ons. I'm more excited to see what the stock turbos/internals can handle with a simple tune. If the estimated power is ~450hp, we can expect ~382rwhp. If this car can reach 500rwhp with a tune, bolt ons and pump gas, this thing is going to be ridiculous.

I wonder how it'll do in our hot weather in summer. Temps reach 55c he with up to 90% humidity.

More great exclusive pics, thanks Jason. It's getting harder and harder to decide between a 2013 with the last NA or wait for this car which I'm sure will tick all the boxes.
While I'm far more concerned with the overall package than raw power(hence why I drive an M3), I think this engine will put out closer to 470bhp than the 450 oft repeated. 450 would mean it would be 102 behind the M5, while the Euro E36-E34 differential was 21bhp, the E46-E39 differential was 61bhp and the E92-E60 differential 86bhp. So, while 102 would follow the trend, lI really don't think it will keep rising but I'll admit this is just an educated guess. |

This car isn't far away from being production ready.
Although the engine bay looks crowded, after a close inspection of the larger photos, I can't see much that they can do to clean it up. What you see is what you get with this one I am afraid....... Ain't going to be much to look at under the hood, so I hope the performance/power delivery of this powerplant hit the mark! |

size and weight are not always equal! Just because it may use as much space as the S65 doesn't mean it will be as heavy. I bet the I6 with turbos still weighs 100+ pounds less than the V8 did.

Anyone notice the oil setup? Based on the development schedule of the last two M models I still insist that this car will launch sooner than expected.

They're more complicated and heavier than air-to-air, which is why they aren't that ubiquitous. IMHO - this is a huge win. My big fear was that this car would be a street queen given the turbo engine/resulting heat issues. A2L goes a long way to making this a trackable car. |
