I would like the EPS-steering feel to be better, it has no feel/ too little to say the least IMHO, take the GT3 EPS system and it can be solved quickly. 18-19" are possible if you want to, but I must confess the 20" are 1st class lookers. |

I like my car also to be a little less sterile/perfect. Sometimes you have to fight the car a bit. The Cayman chassis allows that more than 100% I'm sure, but the power needs to be adequate to get more fun /character out of the car/chassis imo. Like a 458 lol. But I see you also have a C63 to do some hooliganism. Cheers Robin |

There is plenty of hooliganism in any car. If you cant mess around with a certain car, its you, not the car lol.
Im sure your 1m is plenty of that though haha |

The 981 Cayman is a fantastic car. Just fantastic. If you haven't driven it you should.
If you are interested in a a pure sportscar experience, it is one of the best cars on the road (and maybe one of the best cars ever made by any car manufacturer ever). The M is very interesting to me. I'd like to drive it. Whether I consider buying it depends 100% on the driving inputs. That is the shifter feel, the steering wheel feel, the clutch feel and throttle response. You can talk smack all day long about the Cayman, but it's throttle response is second to none (as good as some old M3s). Will the new new M maintain it's throttle response? I'll tell you this, I bought a first generation 335 and sold it within 3 months because I absolutely couldn't stand the turbo lag... / |

Nobody said the Cayman isn`t fantastic, it`s beautiful, very good German built quality.
But it is not perfect IMHO, it has it flaws. There are a number of people here mention the same things. 1 EPS 2 Low on power/torque at low RPM For track purposes it will be perfect, but not everybody wil track his car, the M3-M4 is more practical car for daily driving. The GTS might be better, just have to see on that, but as was posted above; Quote:
The Cayman chassis is very good, it deserves more power than 325 HP, the car is crying out lout for more..... |

Shit. The low tq came out. I think when ppl speak to how great these cars are, its generally when driving them the way they are supposed to be. Otherwise for a daily driver, the non m cars are better

Cayman's steering feel is better than nearly any other modern car on the road -- and better than any BMW I've driven. Sure its a "flaw", but only in comparison with older Porsches and such. The Cayman makes up for the low end torque by an engine that has flawless throttle response and wants to rev to red line all day long (and while it's there it sounds great and is smooth as silk). The new M3/M4 needs to excel in these areas (steering feel, throttle response, eagerness to rev). / |

Regardless for a DD, M3/M4 wins easily. For a true sportscar/weekender the Cayman/Boxster (even base models) are hard to beat. |

As for the GT3 vs GTR, I can tell you've driven neither. Go drive a GTR hard on a track and then drive a new GT3 on a track. I would have a hard time believing anyone would pick the GTR after that. It's not even close. |

I personally wanted the 991 GT3 but with some basic options it came to $162k. Base price was $149k and I wasn't even checking off the anything fancy options. |

Why not an M2..? It will be slighting longer wheel base than you 1M, & lighter. Not-to-mention better handling than both the M4 and Cayman. |

M2 could be, but it`ll take up to 215 (maybe even 2016) before riding the streets. There are also rumors it`ll only be delivered as a 4 banger. Also that M2 is growing in size once again, the nicest part of the 1M is it`s compactness, which I do really love ( it is a very nice coincidence that the 981-Cayman S has exact the proportions as the 1M, only wheelbase is different) Engine wise the NA vs Turbo discussion is tough, both are great on their own way, but the turbo in street riding has made mee feel spoiled somewhat, the instant power feel/delivery is just insane, high reving engines are great also on feel and sound, but not always possible in daily driving ( I dit have an E46 M3 and an E92 M3, so have been there done that) Further rumors are that Porsche is going to build only turbo charged engines from 2016 and on, because of EU CO2 emission regulations/laws The Cayman is a serious alternative for me, the EPS will be better and evolving in time, engine developments are on the way as we speak. We will see what happens for succesion of the 1M, which is for me the most rewarding Bimmer ever driven. Could be I `ll never give her up |
