Exactly it's always the same tire some sh1t. Everytime someone does a custom built everyone chime in how that's the car bmw should have built, I would buy one in a heart beat, etc.

The Outback is considered more of a crossover but it's just a wagon with a higher ride height (4 inches or so over the Legacy).

There's a stigma in the US with the word 'wagon' - I saw the UK posters with 'hearse' instead of estate... that's half of the issue here.

When I change my car I'm not sure what I'll move to. I hate the fact I can't see when backing out of a parking spot when between a coupe of SUV's so maybe I'll get a higher ride height but then handling is an issue!

I doubt many M3 wagons/ routings/ estates would sell. As an F31 owner I wouldn't buy one... I wouldn't get an X3M either. I drove the new M340i last week, seems like a better option given the crappy road surfaces! 380+ hp and capable of been a daily driver.
So why are all so keen and can't wait for the new RS6? There is a market... I mean... afaik Alpina had the estate... so...

Looks/style are all subjective of course. And, I completely respect others' opinions that differ with my own. But....what is all the fuss about a station wagon M4? Is it more of a European thing because there's more hatches in Europe? Or, do people really prefer the looks over sedans? Or is it all about functionality? I'm usually pretty open minded, but I never understand all the frenzy over high powered station wagons (whether Audi or BMW) when they are released?

Alina doesn't bring the estate to the US. I grew up in the UK it's a different market to the US for wagons. I see a few AMG wagons around my way, but theres a lot of options if your willing to put out $130k on an RS6 Avant... not for me that's for sure...

I'm sure they'll sell, that said I rarely see and RS6 or RS7.

There are some of us do put our money where our mouths are. I built the first US E91 M3 wagon, and there's actually a few members who have responded in this thread that have spent more on building our wagons than it costs to just buy an M car.

No way! I disagree! There are at least a dozen or so in the US who would get one!
Make it a bakers dozen, I'd find a way to get one in my driveway.

If I had a nickel for every time someone on the street asks my buddy if he's willing to sell his CTS-V wagon (and this is in Chicago). There is definitely a market but like most have said, not big enough for BMW's taste. You have plenty of hatches in the Focus/Golf/Civic segment and then in the E63/RS6/Panamera segment but none in the F8x segment. It doesn't make sense to me but I'm not the expert.

Crazy how much hate some have for others having *gasp* a difference of opinion...of a car on a car forum no less. Who cares if someone wants an ///M wagon and you don't, in the U.S. it ain't happening anyway. Thought this was an enthusiast forum.

Anywho, nice build and thanks for sharing!!

This would sell very well in Australia, as there are plenty of AMG touring here..
considering we pay almost double for cars compared to the US we are the largest buyers per capita for both AMG and M cars

And it's a Dutchman... we 're Europe's Scrooges so to speak. An M4 CS at my dealership is about € 156k ... so kudos to this man. It would have cost > € 140k overhere if available new.Nice built.

Cheers

And thus it's not really a "CS" without it.

For everyone saying they'd buy one in a heart beat go get the guy that did this to make you one....anyone? No thought not.

They built the e34 M5 touring (hardly anyone bought one) they tried again with the e60 M5 touring again hardly anyone bought one, these days it would be even worse as the SAV/SUV market is eating the estate/wagon market up.

Fair play for doing it but it doesn't translate into a market opportunity that BMW should address.

It does in some countries.
