FEM_BODY Module:

Turn off Amber Side Markers next to Headlight:
3063 MAPPING_SIDEMARKER_L_OUTPUT = OFF
3063 MAPPING_SIDEMARKER_R_OUTPUT = OFF
Would you know by any chance what fra_v_l or tms_sml_l could mean? The "l" is for left, and these along with "Off", are the three displayed values for the above parameters. The codes above also disable the side markers when light switch position is on 3, parking light. Tx.

I'm pretty sure I heard somewhere that this can't be coded out and you need to pull a wire out

This is good news. Just saw this on another thread. Going to test when I get a moment.

Hi Tony, did you see my comment about that when using the parking light switch the side markers are also disabled after coding. Not sure if the behaviour is the same on LED cars.

Because (I'm assuming) they are talking about the three little amber lights, not the one you are referring to

@Shmelgy , my bad, I thought you were replying to me. It's so funny that this thread was asleep for a while until I discovered that the green lights yesterday were on my dash and awoken this thread and a bunch of people replied and posted some helpful info in my other thread. Anyways, I have coded mines back to ON. IMHO, and as research has shown, they reduced night time collision by a substantial number. My post lists the references http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...3&postcount=20

I got that one TMS module is for the driver side while the other is for the passenger side.

Do you know what the difference is between "Standlicht Modus 1", "Modus 2" and "Modus 3" ?

Standlicht 1 is the first position in your light switch, 2 is the second position (low beams).
3 is undefined.

Actually, it turns out that the common belief in the coding community (echoed in posts #33-34) that the Modus refers to the position of the light switch is incorrect: I tested this by making some changes to Standlicht Modus 2 only and the changes were active whether the light switch was in the Auto or Low Beams position. So the position of the light switch has nothing to do with the Modus.

There are references elsewhere in the TMS module to different Tiefttemperaturmodus (Low Temperature Modus), so it looks like the active Modus is actually determined by the temperature.

I also like them... I guess I can see the appeal though if people want a clean look. I don't get the front reflectors though! I think they look fine.

I just tested this myself. Deleting the amber lights in Modus 2 deleted them in both light switch positions 1 and 2.

Out of curiosity, would you know how to differentiate between the light switch position 1 and 2? I would like to keep the amber side marker and dim the angel eyes when the light switch is in position 1 (both side parking lights).

Sorry, I haven't tried playing with this, since as mentioned above I don't dislike the LED amber markers.

When you say position 1 and 2 of the light switch, are you referring to "Auto" and "Low Beams" or to "Parking Lights" and "Low Beams"? If the latter, have you tried both with ignition on and ignition off?

I know that Standlicht Modus 2 is active both when the light switch on "Auto" and when it is on "Low Beams", but I would have guessed that when the light switch is on "Parking" the relevant setting would be Tagfahrlicht if the ignition is on (daytime running lights) and Parklicht if the ignition is off (parking lights), so that you should be able to keep the amber markers on only with the parking lights.

I meant:
Position-1 = 4-way parking lights
Position-2 = Low beams

The amber lights were already off in DRL as a factory setting. Yet, the 4-way parking had them on with the ignition on or off. Further, DRL does not turn on the rear lights, yet 4-way parking does. So I don't believe the two are related.

When I coded the amber lights off in Modus2, it turned off the amber lights in all 3 modes: 4 way parking, low beams and auto. I then coded them off in Modus1 too just to keep things consistent, but it did not change anything.

The Parklicht setting is for the one-sided parking lights, activated by holding the turn signal stalk in the appropriate direction after the ignition is switched off. The amber lights were off as a factory setting in this position, I coded them on for improved visibility.

If Standlicht is what is active also for 4-way parking lights, I do not know of any way to differentiate between the two switch positions. As mentioned above, I think that Modus 1-3 have just to do with the temperature.

Out of curiosity, why isn't part of the "Codes that worked for me" sticky since it seems to be often requested, but buried deep within this forum ?
