Door Ding. Any good recommendations?

So I was running some errands yesterday and while sitting in my car waiting to pull out, the car to the right of me swings their door open into my rear drivers door. Scratched the clear coat and put a nice ding in the door. Every time I walk to the car I get annoyed by it. Any recommendations on some pdr specialists that can remedy the clear coat as well? I am in nj so I would prefer someone in the tri state area. I'm looking for quality work vs low price. Thanks.

PDR Kit

I would personally recommend buying a PDR kit from Amazon and try your hand at it. The kit itself is typically less expensive than a mobile service to come out and do it for you. As for the paint, there are plenty of great DIY guides on how to even the chip or paint scuff with some wet sanding to level it, and use some touch up paint followed by clear after the lacquer dries out to create an even service with a bubble of clear on top. After, you can give it a good compound and polish and it should look brand new.

Dent Repair

When I went to view the 2015 M4 I was interested in buying, I spotted a nasty door dent just below the belt line and aft of the passenger side door and basically told the sale guy that I would not buy that car. He insisted that they could remove far worse then that, so I took him at his word and am glad I did. Two weeks later when I came to pick up the car, I was blown away by the results. This door dent looked like someone had taken a steel punch and hammer to the metal, and it left a sizable chip in the clear coat down to the paint level. When I tried to find the dent after repair, I was 100% gone.

The company went by the name Precision Dent Repair. http://precisiondent.ca/ They have two locations in Hamilton and Toronto, so I'm not suggesting that you can find them in New Jersey, but you should be able to find a similar shop that specializes in paintless dent repair and take it to them. Just check any on-line customer reviews to get a good one.

I'm a DIY guy, but some things I just prefer to let the pros do for me.

You can take a look at my M4 and see what I mean. There was no missing that dent on the right quarter panel, and in this shot it's gone.

I'm all for DIY, but in this case I'd leave it to the professionals. Their tools are much more specialized than the ones sold on Amazon. You're more likely to cause more damage doing it yourself.

PDR isn't that expensive depending on how many dings you have. Usually under $100.

Completely agree. I've seen people use DIY PDR kits and end up removing paint getting the dent out. Something that would've been $100 PDR repair turns into hundreds of dollars to fix the paint.

Larry has a great video going into what the professionals do to remove dents and it's pretty involved.
