Ceika BBK
Has anybody used these brakes on an F8X? The specs look impressive and the price is too good to be true. This is slightly concerning, of course, since they are half the price of AP, StopTech, Brembo, etc. and have 8 piston front/6 piston rear calipers.

I just spec’d a 6 front/ 4 rear kit with a couple options such as floating rotors, high performance pads, and the 380 rotor size all 4 and a couple other things. Came out to $5400 which yes is a good value but within a couple grand of the well known brands

Not sure what options you selected. The kit I made with eight piston fronts and six piston rears on 380mm was only $4,900.
$8-9,000 for AP, Sparta Triton, Brembo GT, and Stoptech Trophy. $6,400 for StopTech standard kit, which really is all I need. |

StopTech piston sizes with 380mm rotors: 36, 30, 30mm front and 30, 28mm rear.
Crika piston sizes with 380mm rotors: 36, 32, 30, 28mm front and 36, 32, 30mm rear. Ceika piston sizes with 365mm rotors: 36, 30, 28, 28mm front and 32, 28, 25mm rear. |

I have sent the templates from Ceika to Apex and they assured me that the 380mm rotors will fit front and back. The setup I'm ordering is:
Apex EC-7R 18x10" with Ceika 8 large piston 380mm rotors Apex EC-7R 18x11" with Ceika 6 large piston 380mm rotors |

Rotors shouldn't have any problems fitting, as OEM non CCB is 380mm front 370mm rear. It's the caliper clearance that usually has issues.

Hawk makes DTC-70 and DTC-60 pads for the rear. The best they make for the front is DTC-30. Should I do DTC-60 in the rear so the bite is a bit less uneven?

I have considered that kit too, only issue is the rear calipers have a piston area that is way bigger than the OEM set up or CCB 4 piston calipers.
this can affect brake feel and bias. % of increase in not proportioned to the front, that is why I didn't go for them |

Yes you can of course use different calipers to compensate.
Now I don't remember the numbers but compared to the stock ones the rear piston are is massively increased. Front is slightly Increased ,rear is hugely increased. It seems it is a caliper more suited to front use. Or maybe it is a caliper for front use they also use on the back. This is what put me off, but maybe it won't be a problem at all... |

That sounds pretty unbalanced, til we look at other manufactures. The StopTech kit would be 4,863mm˛ up front and 2,645mm˛ in the rear. This is actually a 4% front and 13% rear DECREASE in piston area size, though the pressure will be spread more evenly across a larger pad. Personally, I feel like the bump in rear braking pressure will help to balance the car better and stop it quicker. Sorry, I should have compared back to front on each kit. That is a better analysis for the sake of this thread.
Stock = 1.65:1 StopTech = 1.84:1 Ceika = 1.24:1 So, with all of the kits you're getting more pressure to the front pads, but the Ceika kit has a lower ratio. You wouldn't need to use a different compound in the rear to make up for the imbalance. |

AP Racing is another popular choice, though well out of my price range.
Front piston area of 9960/9968 = 5,022mm˛ Rear piston area of 9449 = 3,101mm˛ This is almost the same front area with a very slight bump up in the rear. Also, keep in mind that they use a smaller rear disc, meaning you'll have less stopping power in the rear. Last edited by Kev608; 11-19-2019 at 04:47 PM.. |

I am pretty sure it will perform well with good pads.
I have always believed that many big names are not worth the extra money .maybe on a race car. I have used K sport in the past with great results |

The Ceika rear pads are available from Hawk in Performance Ceramic, HPS, HPS 5.0, HP+, and DTC 60, 70, or 80. The front Hawk choices are not as great, with only Performance Ceramic, LTS, HPS, HPS 5.0, and DTC-30. I'll most likely run DTC-60 rear and 30 front.
