Headlights - F80

Is there a preferred way to refresh these or am I forced to go the autozone/oreillys(kragen) route?

Passenger side is pristine, driver's side is well, you know, not..

I'm gonna hit it with some cleaner wax and see what happens, should be less drastic than wetsanding, etc....

Proper wet sanding is what Id recommend especially if you have some decent pitting. 90***K miles on mine and they cleaned up fantastic. Covered now in a light smoke PPF for protection.

Holy shit, that's clean. Sorry to resurrect but the one eye got yellow again and I remembered posting about it. That being said compound wax worked for ~4 months.

Does the PPF help with UV? Might just need some more compound wax, elbow grease, + PPF if that's the case.

What was the grit used on the wetsand?

Start with a good polish using a random orbit polisher in case the yellowing is just surface level oxidation. If it goes away, top it with a cermic coating. If it doesn't, wetsand and re-clear is the only proper and long lasting option. I've had limited success using the cerakote kit on my mother in laws car but it oxidized a year later due to being out in the california sun and the car hardly getting washed. Megauirs sells a kit that has a spray clear that is half decent but if you are going through that kind of trouble, might as well get a can of 2k clear. Just understand that breathing protection is a must with this type of spray paint.

Do the autozone/oreillys(kragen) route on driver side. Turtle wax has a good headlight restoration kit. After, PPF both sides. ~ 150 bucks total. Did that to my wife's 06 Lexus IS 350 and very happy w/ results.

Proper wet sanding is recommended, as well as a good polish.

I used the 3M headlight restoration kit on my ‘10 Mini CS and the headlights looked brand new afterwards. I highly recommend this kit.
