E92 or F80 if you already have a high RPM car?
Yup, another e92 vs f80 thread.
Currently I already have a nice high rpm V8 with my ferrari 458. It ticks all the boxes for me but the problem is really want a fun manual car with some decent tech as well. something i can drive on the backroads, take downtown, go grocery shopping with without worrying about potholes, people touching it, etc. I had a f30 335 m sport, auto, and that car was starting to bore me after a year so i sold it in september. I have a 09 civic for dd miles and snow so that part is covered. So now I'm trying to decide between an 2015 f80 or an e92 zcp for a second fun car. i've had a e36m and e46m, loved them. I've driven the e92 a few times and it was great too. i went into my f80 and M2 test drives thinking bmw had dropped the ball and they proved me wrong... both of them were very nice. Was actually shocked at how much an improvement the f80 was over the f30 335. What would you guys do if you already had like a 458, gt3, or R8 v10 in the garage? Get another car with similar characteristics (great sound, high rpm, low torque, rev happy).. or get something that has more low end grunt, tech, and comfort at the cost of 'not being as special' ? |

Ugh why would someone touch your Ferrari? People suck. I would never even venture a thought to touch someone else's car.
If it were me and I had your car with a roof, maybe I'd throw around an M6 convertible. Same low down grunt, but more of it, can take the top down when I want to, has all the tech, nicer interior, larger also. |

it comes with the territory. people think its some million dollar car and oogle over it.
The M5/M6 are very nice inside but just far too big for me. not to mention finding a manual would be very difficult. |

no question here. you already have the scremer in the rarri to satisfy that urge.
Other than sound....the f80 blows the e90 out the water. Also the torque makes backroads so fun. I don't know what else anyone can contend beside sound. But you got the rarri |

Def go F80. Good deals are to be had right now, car with downpipes and tune makes 500+ HP, tech (HUD, Blind side, etc.) and it will make getting in the 458 which is N/A much more fun and different compared to the turbos on the f80.

Hi, I paired a model 3 performance with my modified 996 turbo. i won't bore you with the details since there's another thread going. Tl;dr, I think that's the best sports sedan on the market for a street only usage pattern.
Between your choices, f80 all the way. The in cabin tech is a step up from e92 and that's a key consideration for a street car |

Not sure what a 6tt is or EV is... but cup 2 tires are not for daily drivers.
I’m sure there are quicker cars, but it’s fun to drive, lots of tech, and room for kids. |

I had a 991.1 GTS, decided to go to 2 cars.
R8 is the garage / fun car like your 458. I went cheap on the DD since I drive the R8 5 days a week, picked up a 320i. I drive the R8 as much as possible. Only time I drive the 320 is rain, transporting kids, parking downtown, need to stay low key for work meetings, etc. I've owned E90 M3, E92 M3, F80 M3 manual, M2 manual. While the E90x is the best of those cars, I would go with the M2 and the 458. The F80 M3 is a bit "cold", sounds pretty bad, and was super stiff on any bumps. Only owned it for a few months then dumped it. The M2 was far more engaging to drive, the short wheelbase was fun to toss around, and with a Dinan exhaust it sounded pretty good up to 6k RPM. The 6mt is a must on the M2, DCT is kind boring. The interior is a bit drab, but it didnt bother me. You could feel the BMW DNA back to the E46 M cars in the M2. If I wasnt so cheap, I would have kept the M2 and R8 combo. The problem with the turbo motors is they are boring on the top end vs. a high revving NA motor. Which in your case is probably ok since you are looking for a DD. Good luck.

On paper the m2 is the perfect car for me. I drove one with the 6 speed and M performance exhaust. But BMW dropped the ball on the looks. the rear end looks pretty bad. Its the same height as the f80 and much shorter lengthwise. just looks 'squished'. |
