Buy 3rd M4 or Keep my 2016 Audi RS7? Dilemma!

The rs7 is porsche panamera/bmw 6 gran coupe killer that overcomes physics and puts up great numbers, but is still a luxurious boat of a car.

However, tuned, it is the fastest car I've ever seen on the street with real world speed potential. I had a ~650-700hp version (which is only lightly tuned) race my m3 and...putting aside my crap launch.....i thought i was going backwards. Insane speed.

There are some nice rs7 and m4, both on race gas runs on youtube... i think people would be surprised.

I had a 2011 S4 (APR Stage II) which I really enjoyed over 3 years. The next logical step for me when the lease was over was to get into a 2014 S6. However, I never really enjoyed the S6 (even with the APR tune and H&R ETS lowering module) like I did the S4.

The size/weight of the S6 was the main reason. It drove like a big/heavy car, and I traded it in after 18 months (for the M3) with no regrets.

To add to the thread, I don't have any experience with the rs7, although from everything I've read and heard is a lightning rod on wheels. But I can tell yo this; I traded my 997.1 manual turbo with 600hp and a ton of mods for an f82 m4. Many would consider that a downgrade. And in the world of sheer performance it certainly was. However I wanted something a little more refined for a daily driver through traffic every day. And the f82 checks off every list I had. Every time I pull up next to a turbo, I wish I still had it. Every time I pull up next to an m4, I'm glad I have it. Whichever choice you make you will have days of regret and days of content. I know it sounds clichè but it's true, you can't win in every category, especially the one called 'emotion.' I know your situation is a little different as they are both used more similarly than the two I cross shopped, but at the end of the day I'm a car guy, and I got to check off the 911 turbo from my list (albeit for a very short amount of time) and I was ready to move onto something new. It's part of being an enthusiast. Always entrigued by what's out there but never fully satisfied by what you have. My vote is make the switch. Check off the m4 from your list. A year or two down the road you will not only be glad you made the switch but you'll be ready to move onto something different than BOTH of these cars. New experience is good expierence in the world of performance cars

Lol thank you both for the replies. I won't disregard your post as its pretty in depth and will aid my decision making.

I had the coupes for roughly 7 months In total...I had the 1st one for 4 months and the other one for 3 months and that one just sat in my garage, so I haven't really enjoyed the M4 that much. I've only put about 7500 miles COMBINED on the M4's as the last wasn't my daily.

I'm considering an F83...not an F82. I already have days of regret when it comes to cars. It's part of the game I guess lol

If you ve had two F8x cars and traded them away after just a few months / thousand miles, then why the hell are you thinking of getting one again? Doesn't make sense...

Personally I'd take RS7 over M3/4 any day. If you think it feels boaty and wants a more pure sports car, go get a new 911 instead... I mean the F83 is significantly heavier than F82 and doesn't drive as well... and you ve had two M4 coupes already which you didn't like (therefore sold)... don't understand why you are even asking...

Just go drive one of these new turbo 911s and get one. From your car purchases/changes, it appears money is no factor and you are loaded, so maybe even look into a new Lambo or McLaren. Those are amazingly reviewed I think. If you want to stay low key or money is a factor, then get a 911 S.

You clearly didn't read my original post that well. I stated that got out of the first M4 due to it being my dd and it being a lease, which I didn't like the lease due to mile restriction. Went to the F10 M5 and I hated it..was too big.

I got a 2nd M4 6mt with barely any options. I thought the 6mt and options weren't going to bother me as I wasn't going to dd it, but alas, I wasn't in love with the idea of not having many of the packages I had gotten used to in the 1st M4. Since I was barely using the 2nd M4, I just decided to trade it in.

I loved the drive and feel of both M4's. As far as driving difference between f82/f83...I'm assuming you haven't extensively driven both...there's barely any difference.

But then again you've never owned either so why opine? (That last question was a direct response to your question as to why I'm even asking)

Judging by the cost difference of the RS7 and the M4, since you have already had two and still want a third it tells me that you clearly enjoy some of the aspects of the car. What I would consider, is getting out of the RS7 and into a lower model F83 (sans adaptive suspension and 19's) and use the extra money on upgrading to pure turbos and an exhaust with some KW's. Now you have the best of both worlds. A vert M4 and the performance of the RS7. The extra handling is the icing on the cake!

Thanks! Definitely considering it. The only problem with getting a lesser model F83 is that they're only currently selling 10 within a 300 mile radius and the cheapest one is 70k and its missing the exec package which I really like...lol I'm not willing to travel further than 300 miles and there isn't another color combo like this one within 500 miles of me.

If I take the plunge it will be this one. I was supposed to get it today. But I decided to wait until tommorow. Give it one more night...that would make it over a week of decision making. But I'm leaning more towards the F83 than keeping the RS.

I do eventually want to buy a 991.2 GT3 or GTS...but that's not for another year or so and I'd get a used one, dealers around me are marking them up. I don't want it as a dd and I don't have the space in my garage as of now.

i would get the m4 vert especially since you don't NEED awd in FL or in any of the surrounding states really. you're also saving money; 800 is nice chunk of change every month. if the difference were $400 then i might possibly be on the fence.

rs7 just does not seem special overall (IMHO).

it might not be a bad idea to get out of the rs7 now before it takes a hit in depreciation.

That's what I feel many times, it doesn't give that "special" feeling.

Having money to blow doesn't make you smart. Even with bill gates money, no one would say it's a smart move to constantly trade/sell/buy new cars and lose tons of money in the process.

Personally, I'd keep the RS7. I love my M4 but honestly it is often difficult to appreciate the handling of a great car in FL as much as other places where roads are other than long, straight and flat. The RS7 weight would probably be less of a concern for the same reason and the raw straight line power of the RS7 would be intoxicating at least for a while. Also, the financial hit on trade in would be tough for me to bear (on principle even if it didn't matter much financially).

However, it seems like you swap cars often so why not get the F83, keep it for a while and then move on to something else? It doesn't seem like this is a one-or-the-other decision you plan to be stuck with for 5-10 years. Go with your gut.

If you have owned 2 F8xs in the past and got rid of them, what makes you think you will keep the 3rd one?! Third times the charm?

Something about the first two must've displeased you in order to get rid of them so fast.

I had the same thing with Subaru STI's(use to adore them)in the past. Got a 2011 STi sedan, sold it to get a 2012 STi hatchback version of the same car. Sold that to. After two more cars came back to the 2015 STI because something about the car made me want one again. I sold it in 3 months with absolute disappointment in the car and ordered the M3.

My point? Skip the M4 and either try something new or stick with the RS7, which is an amazing car!
