Remove instrument cluster cover

I looked around for a DIY, but didn't see anything. Is removing the plastic cover for the gauge cluster as easy as removing the two screws? I have dust behind the plastic and want to clean it

Thank you

Does anyone have pics with a setup by step on this? Don't think it should be too bad but also don't want to bite off more than I can chew over a piece of dust ha

Honestly I thought same as you at first.

It really is just 2 screws.

I was amazed it wasn't more. Luckily IK6SPEED showed me it wasn't anything more than 2 screws.

I wanted to know specifically as I knew I would retrofit a 6WB in the future. I'll be replacing in next 2 weeks and will be happy to post pics of me extracting 2 screws if you want...but I can probably find a similar photo of a person removing 2 screws on the Home Depot website.

Pretty hard to "screw" up the Instrument Cluster removal.

EDIT: You really didn't search very well

Thank you, I saw videos for the e90 like you posted, but none for the f80. I didn't realize the whole dash would pull out, I thought if I removed the screws the front cover would just pop off which would be a lot easier

You were right it was pretty easy. It was a little awkward removing the cables because of where the steering wheel is

Thank you again!

I will admit my steering wheel was off at the time (as can be seen in photos).

Several have stated it is a little tight with M Wheel in place.

I am about to pull my cluster. I want to try to get some crud off of my lens. Did you ever get your heads up display issue resolved?

The issue ended up being that I didn't plug the clip in hard enough haha. Really need to force it in. Then it worked like a charm, no coding or anything was needed.

Sorta related/unrelated but, since you were poking around behind the cluster, do you think the HUD is removable without taking the dash out?

My HUD is making a horrible clicking when I turn the car off (likely "trying" to adjusting the LCD away from direct sun) and I just want to replace it.

The HUD definitely pops out but I don't know if you need to remove the instrument cluster to get to it or not. When my car was under warranty I had a rattle from the HUD and the dealer took it out and put felt tape around it so it's gotta be somewhat easy to pop out.
