Mehtanol / JB4 install
Wanted to share some pics of my recent JB4 methanol install.
Wow ! What a difference in performance with adding the methanol. I had the shop install the JB4 first and got used to the performance. Stepped it up with catless downpipes, airboxes and the methanol kit with ER charge pipes. I purchased the Snow Performance kit but after looking at it with the techs we decided to make our own setup using the best parts available at time of installation. The shop purchased everything from Mike at N54tuning who is a sponsor on this forum that they recommended to me for buying parts. All work was performed by Erik @ Autohaus Frankfurt in Murrieta CA which also is a Dinan dealer and they specialize in all German makes. Maintenance and performance. The perfect shop to handle this job. They utilized the windshield washer reservoir to hold the methanol. Still uses the factory windshield washer fill location, the factory level sensor works correctly and will give a warning in the instrument cluster if the level is getting low. I love the attention to detail this shop takes with all their work. Went out and purchased better fittings with check valves so the fluid doesn't run down the lines, made a shield (not pictured) to protect the washer reservoir and methanol pump before the fender liner is installed and overall a great installation making sure to pay attention to every area of concern. Next I'll be getting a custom ECU flash from GSR Tuning, Pure turbos and upgraded clutches are on the way Last edited by schnell1982; 01-14-2016 at 07:55 PM.. |

That is an ILL setup! Reminds of the windshield washer setup I had on my N55 and people used to do on their N54's.
Just be careful for leaks. It has happened on some N54 cars where leak developed and car went up in flames. |

So.... This may be an obvious question (answer rather) do you lose all ability to use the windshield cleaner function, or did you somehow divide the tank in 1/2?

My long term goal is to slowly strip down the M and reduce weight for track events. So it was planned to remove before, and decided to utilize it for the methanol |

Everything else was supplied from BMS. Ahh that's a bummer about your JB4. Check the connection at your OBD connection possibly ? Or at the JB4 module itself ? That's odd. Hope you get it figured out |

So I had a great deal lined up on Black Friday at the last minute I had to pull out due to unforeseen circumstances.
Now that things have changed, I'm on the fence, do I do meth or do I do turbos? I have JB4 fully hooked up, and catless DP's. I'm not looking for Max performance I'm looking for an extra bump with longevity. The latter being the key. Urggggggg. Decisions. |

From my understanding the stock turbos are good for the setup that you currently have. Being more efficient is a good point to think about with upgrading turbos but if you are not adding more performance to take advantage of it then is that just more money spent on something that you could add elsewhere like suspension for example ? Just my thought |
