I almost had a heart attack. Switched to AIS and they brought it down to $3500 or something and just drove like a saint for a few years.

Holy crap... at that point, I probably would've thrown in the towel, and bought something cheap outright to pay minimum insurance for a few waves, until full insurance on something nice was reasonable again.

The insurance rates on my wife's car wouldn't have benefitted from a cheaper car since it wasn't that much to insure to begin with. My M3 wasn't too bad either and the loss on getting rid of it early wouldn't net much savings given that my rate wasn't necessarily that high because of the car, but because of my driving record.

I hear ya, and that sucks... I'm just saying, for $8.5k a year for insurance (I'm at $1.2k/yr for FULL ins on 2 new vehicles now)...1 of us would've been bicycling to work, and the other a paid in full lower priced vehicle, W/O full insurance until all that got sorted I'm joking

Lol I probably could have hired a full time driver with a limo and it would have been cheaper.

What's your M3 car insurance rate?

I'm paying $2299. Seems kind of ridiculous. No history of accidents or tickets (yet).

Your insurance rates will vary drastically depending on age, ZIP, miles per year, credit score, violations, accidents, and so many more variables that it would be difficult to know the baseline.

Exactly...age is really only a factor until 25 or so, then it shifts to the other factors. Believe it or not, marital status is also a consideration for most insurance companies, as is whether or not you own your own home or rent. The more you have to lose, the more risk averse you tend to be. Insurance companies like risk aversion.

The only way you can compare what others are paying, you have to now so much more...coverage limits, deductible, location, age, single car, multi car, driver history....etc. these threads are worthless when people simply post their premium.

I pay 120€ a month. Germany has pretty strict insurance regulations though.

My 2016 M4 ($1500/year) costs me almost twice that of my 2018 Cayman S ($800/year): No accidents, age 59, both same coverage on same policy. Crazy !

I believe my insurance for all my cars has gone up quite a bit for some reason this year (no accidents or major changes)

Age 29 Male Unmarried Homeowner
MY18 F80
Seattle area
Multi car (4 cars insured) + Home/umbrella/life
No accidents/claims/clean driving record

Premium is $1600 a year
I forgot he exact numbers but the absolute minimum amount for a lease. I believe 100k-300k? Deductibles are also at the highest BMW allows (Either 1500 or 2k. i know BMW is one of those numbers and my mercedes is the other)

Ironically my 15 year old e46 m3 costs more to insure than my brand new ish f80 lol.

I vaguely remember my MY16 F80 was less than 1k a year under the same circumstances, except I was younger and didn’t own a home...

My 2018 M3 is a little under $700 / 6 months. My 14 year old Subaru WRX STi is $450 / 6 months!! I'm sure that has to do with a lot of the teenager wannabe racer bois.

34 y/o single male, homeowner, w/ an at-fault accident (Sept '17)

I have two cars and homeowner's with State Farm and pay $1500/6 mo for auto. It's $160/mo for 2016 M3 and $100/mo for 2011 CR-Z.

I switched to State Farm about 6ish months ago after Progressive jacked up my premium twice over two renewals. I anticipated the first increase due to the accident, but the second increase 6 months after the accident wasn't something I expected.

Just had to renew.

$1500/6 months for 3 cars including the M3, the other two are daily beaters.

A Homeowner and married if that means anything.

For everyone saying their F8x is more than their other vehicles it's probably because it's your primary — my Denali is over double my Aventador S Roadster for example, because it's my daily use vehicle so it's the highest risk, not because of vehicle or repair cost.
