Wait, your M4 is a 2018 with a build date of 5/17?

So I guess 5/17 is the Upholstery Production Plant Production Date, not the vehicle production date?

it is a sloppy formatting. Build date is 5/30/2017. I saved a bit, too, because it was built before July price increase.

Don't shoot me for a first aid kit - it was a car from dealer lot.

I may be in the very small minority, but it doesn't "feel" special. First world problems, right?
I'm in the 100% same boat. I love the way the car looks, but I just don't find it as much fun to drive. Objectively it's better than either of my E46's in every way but I just don't have as much fun with it.

And to stay on topic I learned my car came with a car net, and I didn't have order one off amazon.

Using the cigarette jack with a double USB port works nicely amd charges faster than the port on the armrest. It's the little things....

I can relate to this. I had had a Mk.I TT for eight and a half years when I got a TT RS, and was excited at the prospect of a faster, meaner TT. Turns out it's quite a different car, and like you, while I know it's "better" in almost every respect (speed, power, grip, amenities, etc.), I never fell in love with it like I did the Mk.I. The garbage tires it came with and the track-induced brake fade issues didn't help, but even once that was all solved I still enjoy driving the Mk.I at least as much. The M4 was my first BMW, and perhaps going in blind was a factor in it becoming my favorite car so far.

Mine has heat and vibration? No LEDs version.
You have the aftermarket M Performance Steering wheel (not the stock wheel) and your Steering wheel still heats?

Vibration is unrelated and will work regardless of Steering wheel because of driving assistance package.
Unless I'm absolutely crazy, yes?

It's not nearly as warm as the stock wheel. But the few times I pressed it, it said activated on my screen and I thought it got warm?

I do seem to remember thinking it not as warm as the stock wheel though...

I'll test it again tomorrow.

Ok because I'm 99% sure the performance wheel loses the heating functionality. But then again I'm often wrong

Try using a slow kicking motion under the center of the bumper instead of swiping. When I had a coupe it worked about 95% of the time.

Ferric grey b55 paint is a decent match for the stock 18" wheels. They tend to chip a lot and the dealer doesn't offer a touch up paint.

I learned that the voice control gives me the same results whether I push the voice control button or not or for that matter whether I speak or not.

Fart can

I learned that the exhaust valves do NOT stay open the entire time in sport/sport+. The valves shut off in 3rd gear at 20mph+. The annoying thing is that when I'm downshifting into 2nd and 1st gear while braking, I expect some nice downshift blips, but I really just get some silent fart can noise instead, which is REALLY embarrassing. If you're interested in testing this out, stay in sport/sport+, get into 3rd gear and over 21mph, downshift without stepping on the gas.
I think the way to get some proper downshift noise is: Stay in 3rd gear until speed is a little below 20mph, give it a little gas to reopen the exhaust valves(the same way you open the valves before starting the engine for a cool cold start), make sure to stay below 20mph, so not too much throttle, then downshift into 2nd and 1st.

Please let me know if this is not by design, and there exists a fix(I don't really want to unplug the active valve wires, that'll be too much for the neighbors to handle). Will the next gen M fix this? I heard the exhaust valves remain open if you shut off the car and restart in the next generation.

Cheers,

I've learned several things and have many questions the last few weeks...
1. It took me approx. 2 weeks to read all 141 pages of this thread. Much of it could be skimmed due to repetition.
2. F82, Gwhatever..why do so many refer to the code names instead of M4, M3, etc?
3. Many, many people are still learning about the light touch on the memory keys tells you what the key is programmed for.
4. I have much to learn about rev matching, coding, active sound and sequential mode.
5. Many, many people love their M4 as much as me. Bot mine July (2015, used). Previously owned a 2013 335i coupe bot new. The M4 is light years ahead and so, so much fun.
6. More to be posted later...
