Rear Axle Differential Lock warning & 1B0A21 Code

Hi Guys,

Has anyone had experience of the rear axle differential lock warning with the error code 1B0A21?

1B0A21 - Rough Road Detection: No wheel speed signal received.

It is also accompanied by the Driving stabilisation error.

The car is currently with BMW who are saying it needs a new diff, I'm skeptical as this error popped up one morning before the car moved leading me to believe it's electrical.

Has anyone had something similar? I can see several people have had the diff error but can't find a great deal on this error code

Thanks,
James

Maybe a bad wheel-speed sensor? The signal from those are used to calculate all kinds of stuff related to DSC.

Know when they broke in the E36 race car - and they broke a lot as they were inserts into the diff made of cheap plastic - it'd pop a CEL and it caused general chaos. Good thing was they were easy to replace.

No experience with that in the F80, but may be a place to start?

Dealer is trying to rip you off IMO. A new diff will not fix a faulty wheel speed sensor signal.

I wouldn't even question it if it's still under warranty. Let the dealership make money. Out of pocket? That would be an issue. When they changed my Diff last year, the CEL did not come one. Only a faint rotating thumping noise emitting from the rear. GL.

Agree, I'm betting it's a bad wheel sensor also, the dealer is full of it..

How did this turn out? I am getting this error too. I replaced the wheel sensor that it was complaining about but I am still getting the error about diff lock and rough road no wheel speed.

Any suggestions?
