Has anyone noticed, that the official ccm numbers of the S55 are the same as of the N55 ... 2.979ccm !?

What does that meen for the previously in this forum leaked/rumored bore-stroke numbers/ratio ???
No oversquare engine as thought and an normal BMW undersquare N55 block instead ???

Greetings from an confused BMW M3 CRT

550 N-m, that is 406 ft-lb. More than anticipated...

I am also curious to find out about the official bore and stroke figures.

The Autocar articles specifies identical bore and stroke as the N55...

Even now, there are two threads with different displacements listed as official. One is 3027 cm3 based on the 89.6x80 cm bore and stroke numbers, and the other is 2979 cm3 (as shown above in this thread as well) which of course matches the N55 and implies the same 84x89.6 cm bore and stroke as that engine.

I have to assume Jason has his numbers correct though...

Is the 8.3l/km number for highway or city/highway mix?

this is very important because it defines which class the car competes in. which one is it?

Also M Power World - official webside of the M-GmbH - quotes in its official specs 2.979ccm and 84mm x 89,6mm !!!

Sorry this means for me to 100% N55 derivate or better B58 derivate ... I am nearly sure that we would see this engine in an detuned and less refined version in the next 5er series or allready in the coming 7er series

3.027ccm and 89,6mm x 80mm could also be the specs of the rumored V6 based in the S63Tu !?
