Ah- wasn't reading closely. The GT3 with the Metzger engine is a different story. I'd say that trumps all haha.

Don't attack me because you're disappointed in the specs. BMW has never done a partnership on this level before.

To put that performance figure into perspective, the new Jaguar F-Type Coupe R with supercharged V8, 0-60mph takes 4.0 secs. BMW performance FTW

The f80 m3 dct is only 65kg lighter than the e90 m3 dct. F80's power must surely be underrated for it to achieve such an improved 0-100 time over the e90.
Or could it be only the torque boost between the 2? Or maybe gearbox ratio and improved traction from the new diff? |

Sorry if this has been posted before, but it seems the seats in the F8x has been inspired by the E90 M3 CRT seats:

I bet BMW could lose another 80kg of chassis weight if they reduced the number of ///M badges on the car.
Isn't 3 or 4 enough? It's an M3. We get it. But thanks for the reminder once every two centimeters. |

So BMW has published every dimension EXCEPT rear seat leg room. That's a pretty important stat for the M3 especially. I guess I'll just check it out for myself in Detroit.

Go down to your local dealer and sit in an F30. It's not going to be much different. Those seats don't look significantly thicker.

I did do that and I was quite impressed with how much room they squeezed in there. It'll be interesting to see if they maintain the same amount of space in the M3. It might even be roomier because the M3 seats are supposedly lighter; maybe thinner.

The new M3/4 are both fantastic! There isn't a thing I would change, not the displacement, not the boost nor power delivered. It's just spot on magnificent what BMW has done here.
I'am glad to see such an achievement after being tired to see X variants that are sluggish mastodonts with centers of gravity nothing adding to "driving focus" by far, GT's that look like turds or FWD announcements of half breed SUV's/monovolumes, etc... just attempting to get hold on high volume sales. It's reinstalling faith that BMW didn't forget their roots of success and initial aura. When you doubt the output, look at the torque/rpm line again, it's just incredible stellar what they've done for a super and nature preserving LEAN 3.0 6 inline (which we all want ... NO?). No doubt that this is THE bimmer many of us cravved for for many years now! The lacking torque wrt to the Alpina is perfectly forgivable, there is no engine like this one, direct massive torque breathing open to high up the rpm scale, just WOW! Smart move BMW, finally! |
