Great competitor...I love it when other companies challenge BMW because it pushes them to a better product. I love the N/A V8 which BMW should have but as much as I would love to buy a reliable M4 competitor Lexus is not serious about performance until the put a manual transmission in their sports sedans. It might be only 5% order manuals but if they want the credentials, they need to offer a real sports sedan and manual offering is vital IMHO.

here is a quote from a motortrend article, which specifically states that the rc-f will gain weight according to the head of development for lexus.

When I read some of these comments about how the M3/M4 has lost it way - etc. blah blah blah - it really makes me laugh. The M3/M4 hasn't even been released yet - there are no real world reports on how it performs - there are no road tests - there are no owners reporting back. Wait until there is some real evidence upon which to make an informed comment. Otherwise it is just flapping gums - empty vessels make the most noise!

Of course the electronic blind spot detection systems will tell you a car is in your blind spot, but I'd still look for confirmation.

When I get a new car, I always take time to configure the mirror settings, in such way that when a car (that is overtaking me) disappears from the rear view mirror, it already shows up in the left side mirror. And when it disappears from the left side mirror, I can already see it in the corner of my eye to my left. For this, the mirrors have to be set 'wide' e.g. when I look in my left mirror, I almost don't see any bits of my own car.

I was told this by the chief instructor of bmw hpde. Do you instruct for track days?

My mirrors right now have no blind spot. In fact, my side mirrors show the car in the next lane approach from afar as well as when they are next to me - as in, its on my side, in my peripheral vision, and in my side mirrors. So your post is strange. Also, when i am stopped at the red light, i look over my shoulder (where blind spot would be) and confirm that its in my mirrors.

Even the rear view if positioned correctly will show the beginning of the blind spot. With the rear view mirror and side view mirrors positioned correctly, you will have more than 180 degrees view behind you.

On the road, i still look back for additional measure and for just in case when there are plenty of cars. But most of the time, i only look at my mirrors at different angles by moving my head to check

I used to have them that my left side was well guarded (rear view showing driver side c pillar and beyond) in my s2k because when you look back you just see a big batch of the soft top
The right side, i would look over.

It takes getting used to not having your mirrors point at your own car but i will quote the instructors "youre car is not going anywhere or leaving you"

Yes, looking into your blind spot is being taught as best practice because you will not pass the CA DMV test if you change lanes without looking in your blind spot. Lane changes include pulling away from the curb (moving from the parking lane to the driving lane), pulling over to the curb (vice-versa), and moving over into a left or right turn only lane, particularly when crossing a bike lane, and of course changing lanes on a multi-lane road or freeway. It only takes a second to check your mirrors and blind spot and it's just a glance. Of course you should be following at least three to four seconds behind the car in front of you which should give you ample opportunity to glance over your shoulder for a lane change. You should also gauge the safety of making a lane change by what's going on with the traffic in front of you.

We teach adjusting your mirrors by leaning on the left and right seat bolsters and adjusting the mirrors so that you can barely see the side of your own car. Then, from your normal driving position, sitting back in the seat with your hands slightly bent in the 9 and 3 position, you should not be able to see any of your own car. Side view mirrors are designed to see other cars, not your own car.
