M4 to GT350 or Camaro ZL1 1LE
Hello guys,
I own a 2018 M4 CP. Stock car, except of KW HAS,usual carbon, Awron gauge and DP. Not tuned... Was considering going for a stage 2 tune with crank hub fix... But I have been having a itch for a muscle car for a while and I stopped my M4 plans. Been looking at the GT350 and the Camaro ZL1 1LE. Anyone moved to or from those? Will have to import to UK, so bit of a hassle, but want something special and may be willing to go through the extra work... Thanks! |

Not to oversimplify, but for street use, GT350. Heavy track priority, ZL1 1LE.
The DSSV on the 1LE (like my Z/28) are track dampers https://gmauthority.com/blog/2019/04...-ride-control/ If mostly for street and some track, why not consider standard ZL1? Total monster out the box on road and track.

The track focused editions make for misinterpretation of the original car in some cases. Also seems like people doubt how extreme some of the track versions have become. The Americans are selling derestricted GT4 cars with interiors. 1LE isn't like a ZCP, it'll make you hate life on the wrong roads.
Standard/stock ZL1 is a monster on track and won't crack your pelvis on street.

Not sure how much faster the GT350 with Cup 2's and updates is. But assume they stopped short of the R, so still way off 1LE pace. Standard GT350 to SS 1LE is pretty close. SS 1LE is a great dual purpose option, still has the mag ride. Bargains, too.

In my track experiences I don’t find the zl1’s turning faster times than the gt350’s. My guess is, the level of seat time required for each to reach its potential is different.

GT350 vs SS 1LE is really close track pace in my experience. Updated GT350 is 0.5 up on SS 1LE around NCM https://www.proracerstake.com/ True the GT350 is a less torquey, higher revving engine. Easier to work with, put power down. Circling back to the original post/question, believe GT350 is the most special engine of the group. But for an all-around muscle car? I'm biased, but nothing does muscle car quite as well as a Camaro.
