Not sure why BM3 is the only tune that hasn't solved this.
The lack of updates or replies from PTF is not confidence inspiring and is hurting their brand.
I'm considering BPM.
Has BPM solved this issue?

You're hilarious, how does a March Update that locks all OBD Unlock is going to hurt a brand that has been more proven than any other platform especially holding all S55 World Records (Stock Turbo, Upgraded, 0-60, 1/4, 60-130)

You do realize its only like maybe 5 cars that have gotten this and are wanting to tune ?

The community doesn't need more ppl like you posting retarded questions in the bm3 facebook or flooding their emails when they can use their time to assist and continue improving on better things. You're probably one of those that will ask can I use 91octane in my 93oct map

So many immature fan boys on here with nothing better to do.
It's great that it doesn't affect you. Since that might be all you care about.

My point is that theres been no replies from ptf and this update has been since March.
and how can other tuners on here find a solution so quickly.

People need to relax. Reverse Engineering and Software development isn't a walk in the park. It took years for mother Russia to release the backdoor OBDII DME unlock. I don't expect this case to be any different.

I may be wrong, but I believe the workaround that others have provided is to first downgrade the March DME software version, which will then allow one to perform an OBD unlock using the previous loophole.

Hi parabmw ,
We just got our M2C this week and we're working on it more in depth. Even this car which was held back for a recall didn't get updated to the March '19 update when it was picked up this week. There are only a handful of cars affected and we hope to have a solution for it soon.

A few cars have been done sort of a semi-old way by getting physical access to the DME but without any physical tampering with it or opening it like it used to be done in the past.

Our lack of updates here doesn't ever mean we're not working on it fwiw. It just means its not done. All the best!

Question..is there a way to find out if I have the March update. I went in for service (oil, spark plugs, intercooler replacement, tires) about 4 weeks ago. Does bmw always update or do you have to ask for it?

TT DAWG- The post below from Tom@eas details how you can determine if you have the March update.

ISTEP level 19-03-5xx seems to be what's causing issues. Not possible to downgrade that I'm aware of, we'll have to wait until PTF provides a solution - which shouldn't be much longer.

You can check your ISTEP level in VCM in esys. For example, If your car was updated recently at the dealer, it will be on 19-03-522 or 530, PTF can confirm if 522 or 530 ISTEP is causing the issue, since I haven't seen a 19-03-5xx version roll in yet.

See the included version/i-level chart for reference:

Hope this clears things up. Goes without saying, it's a good idea to hold off on any dealer visits if you want to keep your tune at the moment.

That’s great but how do I look it up? Is it in iDrive? Do I need to take it back to BMW? Etc etc...

Sorry to hear you're having issues man. I was nervous I'd have a similar experience.

Just flashed my 16' (non ZCP) F80 to stage 1 this afternoon using my PC and everything worked out perfectly! Followed the instructions to the "T" and was shocked at how simple it was. Took my car out just before the rain came and broke traction doing a 3rd gear pull so needless to say I'm a happy camper.

Best of luck!

Anyone with the 19" March update able to successfully flash their ride with bm3?

Has bootmod3 found a workaround? Cheers

Hey guys, I'm new to this forum and in need of serious help! This is just a quote of my problems that I've sent to BM3 support "Good evening. I have a stock 2016 M4 which I've been running stage 1 for for a few weeks now. I recently downloaded stage 2, just to give it a go and all went well. Tonight, I decided to go back to stage 1 and also flash the GTS transmission programming. Both were completed, but car wasn't restarted within 5 seconds. Upon restarting car, every possible code has popped up i.e locked rear diff, airbag restraint, steering wheel, headlight etc. The car wasn't driven after these warnings. I tried the stock tune and during that process it said it failed and had to relock the dme and that was successful. Started the car idled fine, but still multiple codes. Clueless at this point. Thank you for your time." They're taking extremely long to reply, which just leaves me here stranded. Desperately seeking help. Sorry if this is posted in wrong page

It seems that the March update still cannot be unlocked with OBD. For now only bench.
Keep waiting...
Actually, the stock DCT software make me crazy when 2&3 shifts.

When you say the March update cannot be unlocked, do you mean it for all cars for those manufactured after a certain date.

As I understood, it is only the very latest manufactured cars which on getting the March update encrypt/ lock the DME - and as of now, BM3 cannot unlock it.

For older manufactured cars, even if they have had a March update; BM3 works fine on these.

I dont know the exact cut-off manufacturing date; but that is what I seem to have read in the various forums.

proTUNING Freaks Halim@HCP Can you please confirm? Or anyone else?

EVERY time I try to load maps on the road a glitch happens. I will eventually get it to work but it's nerve racking when you are 100 miles from home at a gas station, your tank filled with E85 and you can't get the map loaded. I now only do it in my garage.

Emm, I don't know whether the old manufatured cars with the March update can be mapped or not. My car manufactured in June, 2019. So...
And when you connected with MHD, it will say not supported.
