Rear-wheel drive now standard, MSRP reduced by a chunk, still a high-revving n/a V10 with dual-clutch. Must be getting close to the end of the line on that formula. Haven't been this interested in the R8 since the V10 manual. Looks like a good time for street + track...

Interesting that you brought up the R8. I was watching a CS vs R8 comparo last night. I like it, but I don't love it enough to own it. I'm not emotional about the car at all. It's the last of its kind for sure.

It will never beat the first-gen in terms of looks or manual availability, but the fact that this and its Lambo equivalent are pretty much the last new V10's on this earth (a sad reality) makes it brilliant. The end of the R8 is pretty much the end of the V10.

Gated shifter was so good. Agreed on the gen 1 looks being the best. I like this '21 (or '20, not sure) facelift, though. And rear-wheel drive now!

A sweet symphony of noise. I definitely prefer the pre-facelift looks. Not a fan of all the vents (some of which are fake) on the post-facelift, but I bet the RWD version is a riot.

Thanks! I actually am surprised how many people have commented on the Sunset Orange. I've had people screaming at me at 40 mph from the next lane about the color and even the neighbors with the Prius and Camry hybrids who could care less have commented on the color. I happily indulge them with the "thanks, it took 6 months to get," without letting them in on the fact that most of that was due to the covid failed ED disaster!

I really wish I understood any of the above. I don't normally lease cars - but everybody keeps telling me I should. It's things like this that make me really worried I'm going to get ripped off somehow! Do you know of a web page that explains why adding options can make a difference between leasing being a good idea or not?

How would you compare Sunset to SO in person? I have not seen it but I had an SO M4 and it felt "individual" even tho it wasn't. I thought Sunset was more like valencia?

Might also be that by the time the current supply/demand used car imbalance sorts itself out, we're in low supply collector/keeper territory with a lot of desirable M cars. We'll see if the F80 gets there. I do think it belongs.
Just a bump on this convo.. That Tanzanite car has been dropped $2k and still hasn't sold. As I said its worth mid-high 50s and I bet that guy is getting lowballed to all hell.

Sunset orange and Sakhir are similar in some ways but Sakhir is more red than orange to my eyes and Sunset is more orange than red. Also the tone of orange is different between the two, I find that sunset is more of a copper orange whereas Sakhir is not copper at all. I prefer Sakhir as I think it is a little more dynamic, vibrant, and M exclusive. Sunset is still a pretty great color tho, just more of a copper feel

I am normally not a black car guy but I love M2s in black and it's probably the color I would go for if I get one. Second would be HSM.

Hard to describe. It's basically a burnt orange and kind of in the middle. It has the reddish hues of SO but also the orangish tones of Valencia, however, it's darker than Valencia and not as red as SO. There are faint brown-copper undertones that give it a different, burnt look. You could mistake it for either in varying light conditions, but I'd say it's easier to mistake for SO, as I've had a handful of people referring to an M3 or M4 in the "same color." That said, it's far rarer to see a Valencia anything anywhere, so it could be due to that.

Looks to me like dude would get his ask on a Porsche trade.

Indicated sale pending as of 5/3.

This guy did stealth PPF on Sunset Orange, looks pretty good. I think HSM is probably the most unique color and the one to go for on M2C as it is exclusive, however, it is also the color I like the least lol. If I was doing an M2C, I would 100% go for black with the intention of doing an Autoflex spray on top to actually get a unique color

Two examples of that I've seen recently -
The price guides (NADA, Edmunds, etc.) have also risen with the market. Edmunds values the second example above at $62K-$64K dealer retail.

I offered the dealer $64K on the first one - fast no - and tried to buy this 2008 M3 6MT with just 31K miles for the asking price of $40K yesterday but I was the sixth person to make an offer.

At $60K for an F80 and $45K+ for an E9x, I'll stick with ordering a new M3 for $71K after dealer discount and incentives... now if I could find a nice E9x for $30ks I would pivot and save myself a lot of money.

I used to be a just a grey/blue guy, but when I saw the car at the dealership, it won me over. Initially, I was on the fence looking at the website.

Seriously, when I'm out on road trips, I've had people in other cars, take photos of my car and strangers give me compliments when I'm parked. Went to a dealer this week (I sold my DD as the prices got stupid and I only lost 15% of the price I paid after driving the car for 4 years), the dealer asked me to contact him if I ever considered selling as he wanted the car for himself.

Never had that in the years owning grey, blue BMWs, Audis etc.

More importantly, even my wife likes it lol, and all she cares about cars is the color.

SO has a duality; in some lighting, it looks red, in others, more orange. I will never look at red cars the same again.

Porsches rarely lease well, especially their sports cars like 718 and 911. Compared to BMW, their residuals are lower, money factor is higher, and hardly any discounts. Also, like mentioned previously each model and trim has a MRM (maximum residualized MSRP). Any amount over the MRM will not be residualized so you'll be paying 100% of it during the lease.

So....

...I went to the Porsche dealership where I obtained my allocation to discuss & adjust my build/production date, look at a car with Race-Tex and to check out another car with the AeroKit. If some of you remember, I had some concerns about SPASM making the wing gloss black and changing the front lip/side skirts from body colored to black ABS plastic. The GSM is going to check into that for me and let me know in the next few days. I am glad I visited the dealership because I was made aware that alcantara and Race-Tex are actually different fabrics (...see photos; alcantara on the left and Race-Tex on the right). I don't care for Race-Tex as much after seeing it in person and comparing it to the alcantara; the alcantara being a softer fabric with a slightly better feel. The jury is still out on whether or not I'll leave it on my build. I found the base audio to be sufficient after hearing it and the carbon fiber roof looks really good (...although I prefer BMW's 1x1 plain roof). Sold!.....I'm considering jettisoning it in favor of a leather wrapped dash. Gahhhh! Choices!

P.S. Why does the Turbo/Turbo S look so much wider than the Carrera S?!?!

Huracan Evo RWD is very soon being replaced by the STO, I've heard. And the STO is the last Lambo car to get this V10.

May I also point out the sick aftermarket Performance parts Audi put out for the TT and R8. Pretty hardcore stuff - 2- and 3-way coilovers, proper 2-piece slotted rotors, brake ducts, CF bracing, Akra exhausts, forged rims, aero bodykits. Well serious for Audi.

There are incentives on the new G80 already? That doesn't bode well.

Also dealers are ripping people off. The car bubble and cryptocurrency are going to end up being the "next 2008".
