The designs are very different, not so much pro or con between either solution.
Active mid pipe is going to change the tone while increasing the volume and reducing the rasp. The VRSF is going to just delete the secondary cats, which will increase noise and the standard rasp. The Active solution is more popular since it pairs well with the Remus Axle Back or Dinan axle back and can also be run with downpipes without producing crazy rasp |

VRSF pros: Aggressive price, will get you a louder exhaust tone without a CEL light (compared to catless downpipes another cheap option to get a more aggressive tone).
AA pros: Deep tone that eliminates the rasp for a cleaner sound. Dyno proven to add 10-15 HP

Is it possible to eliminate the secondry cat with a product that doesnt require cutting of the stock exhaust. Also will eliminating the resonator add horsepower or just for better noise.

All the responses here are comparing the AA single vs VRSF dual. You are comparing AA single vs VRSF single

I debated whether or not the AA was worth the extra cost, but I chose the AA due to its quality and AA's reputation for solid products. Worth every penny, particularly with the great price I got from Mike.

I definitely don't say that. Probably those who bought VRSF say that. I bought a VRSF charge pipe for my previous 335i and there were defects that required work-arounds. Definitely not better quality from my perspective. Also - VRSF makes a single-midpipe design very similar to the AA I've got on mine, but some say the flanges that connect to the downpipes are poorly designed and require modification. No mods required for the AA, which bolted right up.

I have the AA single mid pipe, haven't installed it yet. I only got it because the VRSF wasn't available at the time. If Iw as going to buy one now, I'd go wit VRSF, no doubt. Same thing, just cheaper.

Here in UK people who tried both say there is no difference between two sound wise. Of course as a trader/manufacturer you will be defending own product ;which is right way to do.
