Went to the British GP at Silverstone yesterday...some cool stuff in the lot, great race. Saw the new iX...not as bad as photos, not as good as it needs to be. The FF I snapped was not the only one I saw!

It was a good one indeed. The last 5 laps or so were great! Insane that all those drivers were out on the first turn.

Short read on what I thought was interesting regarding “storage damage” and Porsche.

https://www.motor1.com/news/595944/p...nick-heidfeld/

"If such a technologically innovative car is not driven regularly, storage damage is, unfortunately, unavoidable" – according to Uwe Makrutzki
Head of Factory Restoration at Porsche Classic.

Think Porsche does the whole, "Function over Form" a bit too extreme lately. The car looks like a transformer in drag, which I don't know if it is a good or bad thing.

I have heard a few 992 GT3s lately and they are all pretty tame when it comes to stock sound. All the environmental stuff pretty much murdered the noise of the car (something I'm familiar with atm...).
Yeah it's pretty extreme. I would feel pretty silly driving it in that state. I would be the guy who, immediately upon purchasing, removes the wing that is 5-times too large for the car. There's nowhere in the U.S. that such a wing would really be necessary (…and that includes most of our racetracks).

Excessive storage is more detrimental than just driving the car.

The pursuit of more and more extreme aero is a necessity for the Porsche GT division - and nowhere more so than with the RS. It has to be the king of the track and have the best nordschliefe times, and the only way to get that is with aero enhancements. I personally don't like the hood nostrils on the 992 but totally understand why they're there.

The RS/RSR is gonna need that huge wing, period. Nevertheless, Porsche's made concessions even with its hardcore products - if you want a GT without a wing, you can buy a Touring

I would just buy the regular GT3 and remove the wing so I get the awesome duckbill. The other drawback to the Touring is the interior options are different than that of the winged version.

I haven't built out a GT3 Touring but I have done so with a GT4 RS as... just for fun.

Personally do prefer the GT4 Touring though, especially on the 992.

Just came back from another 2-day track event. As usual, I had a great time on and off track with a great bunch of folks. The good news is that G8X contingent keeps increasing, with 4 different G8X in attendance. Interestingly, I still have not seen a single G8X on the road so far, but quite a few a track events. At least it means they are being put to good use. I still can’t get around the looks though. I really try to find some good angles but that design just does not do it for me.

As a tidbit, my student had a very interesting ride: a Challenger Hellcat. Quite an entertaining ride on track, especially on the second day which was a wet one

I agree and still really like the 992 GT3 and upcoming RS.

But the 991 is a much better design. The 991.2 GT3 was perfection and the 991.1 GT3RS is probably the most aggressive i want a street car to look. Both are the pinnacle of GT design imo.

You guys will enjoy this...

totally blew my load today at lunch in Ullapul, Scotland. F80C in Messing (NL plate, LHD), one of my favorite F80 colors.

Also, some North Coast 500 shots. Blasting down single track roads at nearly 60 in the sideways rain...fun times! LR Defender 110 FTW!

Interesting, I saw the headline this morning that mentioned it only got 4-stars. Was that due to only the safety tech, or also just the overall structure/body?
