Finally Installed My MCS Two Way Remote Coilovers!! WOOT!!

Finally after a long, long wait my good friends at Alekshop installed my MCS 2 Way Remote coilover setup on my car. I decided to go with a true coilover setup in the rear.

- MCS Two Way Remote Coilover
- 2.25" 850F, 700R Eibach Springs (You can go less aggressive springs in rear due to coilover)
- Fall Line Tow Links and Swaybar End links
- GC Camber Plates

I've only driven the car a few miles on the street so my quick review is the car feels very comfortable in the straights and handles absolutely mind blowing in turns, turn in is super fast, flat and handles on rails.

Track test will be later this month at Thunderhill.

Awesome! I'm also running MCS 2WR (and Essex/AP 9668 F & 9449 R brake kits) on my M4. You're going to absolutely love them.

Nice! This is near the top of the food chain as far as suspension and bbk goes.. What tires do you run? I'm on APEX SM10s with NT01 305/275 setup. With a 12mm spacer front and 5mm spacer in the rear.

Can't wait to get out to a track soon!

I'm running PSC2 265/295 on 19" HRE FF15. No spacers required to the clear the AP calipers but I'm using 7.5/5 mm spacers (Turner).

I bet you can't wait to get back to the track! BTW, each 'click' of damping change makes a noticeable change handling characteristics which is awesome considering the wide range of damping. Did Alekshop give you an initial track setup for the dampers and your spring rates?

Nice! How do you like the PSC2? I have a MPSS set for street and swap to NT01 at the track. I like how long the NT01 last and the degradation curve is very gradual and flat.

I require a 5mm spacer up front to clear the spring perches otherwise the insides of my NT01 rub. I decided to run a 12mm spacer for a wider stance.

I'm currently setup at the MCS recommended middle settings.

I went for another short drive today up some local twisties.. the turn in is incredible, Oh my god, I had to laugh out loud as I powered through turns.. so flat and such granular feel through the wheel... the car just almost reads my mind now.. goes where I want it to.

OMG I'm so excited for the next track day!

I like them a lot (I also really liked the PSC which most people didn't like) but they do require decent negative camber on the front. The PSC2s are very good when it comes to resistance to heat cycling. One nice thing about PSC2s is they're typically ~3-4 lb lighter per tire compared to tires of the same size from different manufacturers.

Lol...They're definitely helping with controlling how rapidly body roll is controlled at turn-in but your higher spring rates are contributing more to the increase in sharpness at turn-in. Where you'll notice the MCS dampers shine is when you encounter a bump at turn-in, mid-corner and track out or pounding on curbs or putting power down from mid-corner to track out.

For the street you could start with R/C 4/2 (clicks from soft) on the F and R. You'll need to experiment at the track to find what works best but the MCS recommended R/C settings are a good place to start - smooth and bumpy tracks will have different settings. Don't be afraid to make to changes and try running R at max setting and compression at min setting, and vise versa, to get a better feel/understanding of the dampers (as well to feel what a "blown" damper feels like).

When's you next track day?

Hehe, still trying to find good homes for them. The rears are in the trunk obviously but just velcro'ed.. the fronts are in a dumbass location right now its kinda stupid. trying to figure it out.

I had JRZ RS2 before which were great. Once I've put the MCS through their paces I will report back with details. Overall I think the JRZ RS Pro are quite comparable however I decided to with MCS because they're a local aka US shop and rebuilds/ service support and turnaround is better and closer to home..

For JRZ everything needs to always go back to Netherlands for proper rebuilds.

I currently have the fronts mounted toward the front of the CF strut brace and the rears are mounted to the rear sides of the trunk liner. I'm going to see if I can mount the fronts on top of the headlights (however, the diameter of the canisters may be too large and prevent the hood from closing). I'm going to wrap them in gold foil to help better reject heat/control temps if I keep the fronts on the strut brace.

M3SQRD what comp rebound settings are you currently running ? also what PSI are your shocks pressurized at ? Finally what spring rates are you running? .. sorry for so many questions..

Any idea the motion ratio when you go to a true coilover? The 850 rear seems too high by my guesstimation, but my guess of a .65 motion ratio could be off by a mile.

If it is around .65 (E90 is .83 MR at the shock fyi) then the rear spring would be in the 550 range to get the same ratio as a 600/900.

I agree. The 850 #/in R rate seems high for a R coilover setup that's paired with a 700 #/in F spring. I don't know what the F8x R motion ratio is either but I'd guess an 850 #/in R coilover rate is equivalent to a ~1500-1600 #/in R OEM spring location rate.

w00tw00t - have you asked Alekshop if they've measured the motion ratio and/or what an 850 #/in coilover rate is equivalent to at the OEM spring location?

M3SQRD have you wrapped your remote adjusters in any heat foil material? If you have time would you mind posting a quick picture of how you have them mounted? ? I really appreciate all the tips and suggestions you've given!

Not yet. I'm actually going to try today and see if I can mount them over top of the headlights. If I can't then I'll wrap them in foil and re-mount them to the CF strut brace.

You're welcome
