It may be the shocks, or suspension components e.g. bushes. The standard BMW passive suspension isn’t great IMO. Try driving another F8X and see if it’s similar.

What tyres are on it btw?

Car has 27.000km, how likely is it that a suspension component need fixing?

I've had passive suspension on both F87 M2, F87 M2C and F82 M4 and it wasn't like this

It's hard to describe, it's as if there's a deaspot in steering 1cm left or right and u need to steer slightly more

On faster speeds its more precise but on low-mid speeds 30-80 km/h its not very precise, even in Sport+

The only thing I did to the car is change steering wheel and I noticed when torquing the center bolt, the steering wheel moves a bit when torquing, I wonder if I stretched something? No clue

If you’ve driven other F8X and yours doesn’t feel normal, there may be something mechanically wrong. What tyres are you running btw?
Changing steering wheels shouldn’t be an issue unless you damage any components when installing, which is unlikely unless you’re forcing things. I’d take it to a good independent/performance shop and ask them to diagnose. Or a dealer, but a good one wanting to help! Good luck and keep us posted 👍🏽

I know exactly what your describing and experiencing as I experienced the same issues. It drove me crazy and I was thinking that there was something wrong with my steering rack.

I had the GTS Steering program loaded into my car and it felt 100 times better. I suggest you could do the same as a solution before you look any deeper into it.

I've done exactly this and it did help a lot but it's still not perfect

Checked tire pressure and there was a few psi differences all around, so fixed that and it's slightly better again

But ultimately it's still not perfect, kinda frustrating

The only other thing I can suggest is that I am pretty sure that there is an adjustment bolt within the steering rack itself that requires a special fitting. Apparently it allows for these kinds of things. Something to try

Could you elaborate more on this?

Where do I access it?

But this issue resolves the clunking sound only though?

It should be located on the top side (or there abouts) of the steering rack.

Its a preload and play adjustment bolt, it allows small adjustments to be made to the steering pre load before needing to replace the rack if worn out.

So if I understand correctly, you remove the belly pan underneath the car for access and you tighten that bolt by a few notches?

I've gone down the rabbit hole of that post and some people mention the steering wheel becoming more hard but the question is if the center dead zone gets harder or just the rest

To be honest, while GTS coding does fix a lot of the numb steering sensation, as of late I noticed it isn’t the full solution.

The issue is steering wheel play at faster speeds in curves, the car stays planted but the steering wheel is too wobbly, as in it doesn’t stay tense and I believe this is what is making the car feel unstable

Perhaps lower control arms or bushings? Roads are shit here and I do have the passive suspension, but at 20.000 miles? Doesn’t sound right
Get a mono ball kit - I like the DINAN one - and the GTS tune for the steering. You'll write back to thank me 😉

Would this do the job?

Would just need to replace the original lca and not go the extra step of installing the rest
