6MT F80 3rd to 4th Gear Shift Problems

As the title says, I have a 6MT/FBO/Cary Tuned/MY18 F80 Comp pack with 25k miles and my 3rd gear to 4th gear shift under normal driving (as well as WOT) has a hesitation and doesn't have that clean "click" like it used to. It's not quite a grind but it doesn't consistently go in clean if that makes any sense. Anyone else having issues like this? Driven stick my whole life, so I like to think I know how to properly drive a manual. Are my synchros going? Will my warranty cover it? Pic for attention. Thanks for any info.

I was gonna suggest you let BMW take a look at it but you are tuned and they may deny you.

If it was me, i would first change the transmission fluid and see how it goes from there. Also inspect your transmission mounts.

Rogue engineering trans mounts.

Maybe you're trans is shifting under load and hard to catch the gate. E tunes have a lot of torque. Sometimes my catching 2nd can feel a little off. I'm going to try this.

Good possibility. 2nd never seems to be a problem though. Only 3rd to 4th. Not sure if that changes anything.

After some research, looks like BMW considers 6MT tranny fluid "lifetime" despite a lot of owners changing this fluid <25k miles and finding metal shavings in it. Will probably be my next move to change it out and see if it fixes the problem. Has anyone had any luck having the dealer swap this under warranty? If not I'll probably do it myself.

Quick question, are you noticing this when turning or just when going in straight? Due to the nature of the shifter with it rubber mounting, when turning and shifting, it could stick. I had this issue on track before (yes yes I know youre not supposed to shift during turns, but thats another story at a different time) and what solved it was when I upgraded my shifter to the CAE shifter.

also, yes, try changing the fluid, but if your car being so new, not sure if it will help. I hope I'm wrong. At least its a real easy job if you have access to jack stands or a lift.

Also, are you stepping on the clutch all the way?

I changed my 6MT gearbox oil at 40K miles. It was a little dark but no metal. I refilled with RedLine DCTF (1.1L). Yes, Redline says use DCTF in our manual gearbox. All good for the last 7K miles!

Yes, going straight. I have a clutch stop, but our clutches seem to engage pretty high, so yes to pushing it down all the way. I'm going to see if my dealer will swap my fluid out and report back.
