I have non-EDC, but my dealer is telling me that programming includes modifications to the stock stability control.

I was quoted the following:
$697.50 for the 4.5 labor to install
$240 for coding
$195 for alignment
and possibly another 1-2 hours of labor for adjustments

That's $1132 + 1-2 hours for adjustment.

I too have non-EDC and am wondering if the gains will be enough to warrant BMW tax.

You may be in a better position to negiotiate if you know which to address.
  • 6hrs vs 4.5hrs in the install document? It does say "The installation time quoted does not include time spent on visual measurement, resetting the chassis, and programming/coding work."
  • Does your dealership not offer a set price for an alignment? Is that cost more or less than what is being offered via 2hrs of labor?
  • Etc

You can argue that EAS was selling essentially the same kit (KW HAS), installing it, and coding for $1k meaning their install and coding is about $300 to their customers but a the dealership is nicknamed "stealership" for a reason. How have you been trying to negotiate other than telling them what a document is quoting for hours and what others had paid for on the internet?

Is there any other BMW within a reasonable distance that you can take the car to?
Not sure what to make of 1-2 hours of "adjustment".

Documented install time is only a recommendation, dealers are not obligated to follow it. We know of some dealers that double documented times as a rule of thumb. Service technicians typically follow book time in most cases.

In most cases, BMW parts do not have to be dealer-installed to be covered under warranty. Get quotes from (experienced) local tuning shops also.

Almost the same quote I got but without the 1-2 hour of adjustments.

Mine was:

4.5hrs install, 1hr coding, and $200 for alignment. $975 for the 5.5hrs they quoted me. Total $1175

Interesting. I was hoping to keep the warranty and not have the dealer have any "outs".

But, I'll be at AutoTalent tomorrow afternoon anyway and we can discuss more.

I had my install yesterday on my non-edc 2015 M3 F80.
The result is amazing!
The ride is firmer but still very comfortable and we have a lot of bumpy roads here.
I also had the competition pack swaybars installed and the combo makes the car cornering very flat and definitely faster!
Very pleased with the stance as well and the hre-rims now suit the car just perfect!!! happy day

Did you max drop it front and back? Is that ground angled down or is it level?

It was dropped front and rear on the bmw-recommended ride height.
Only the front is 3 mm lower than recommended.

Thanks! I'm waiting on my kit to arrive and trying to figure out what to ask for in terms of dropping it.

Your front looks like it was able to get closer to the tire than some of the other pictures in this thread but I think the angle of the pic along with the shadow hitting over the black wheels and tires are making it look lower.

I am thinking about asking for 20mm all around but I think in some of the pictures the rear looks really low and in others it looks good so I'm not certain on the drop to ask for yet.

Either way, this thread needs more pictures of cars set up with this kit along with how much they dropped front and rear! I plan on posting a few pics when I finally get mine done in the weeks to come!

The front measures 24" while the rear is at 23" 13/16 after the drop. I think it looks perfect, I am running 265/35/19s and 305/30/19s.

This does look perfect! Do you know how far they took it down to get to those heights? 25mm drop up front and 20mm in the rear?

We did 20mm up front and 5mm in the rear. Then it settled more on its own.

I highly recommend a second adjustment as needed after the springs have settled, they can settle up to 3-5mm on their own.

My apologies in advance if I muck this up photo link thing but here is my M4 with the M Performance HAS installed and 265/295's. From the top of the wheel to the bottom of the fender, 3 1/4 inches on the rear and 3 1/2 inches on the front. I requested the BMW recommended drop.

That sounds like a good idea but how much do they charge for adjustments? Do you know if they put the do called anti-tamper markings to force you to go to them to adjust the height?
