The F8X inspires a casual stroll and slow look back to admire the aesthetic the vehicle offers. The G8X commands a walk fast and look straight ahead ....

Yeah... the M5 Comp is looking better to me as a replacement.
I've thought about getting an ///M5 also but it's just so damn big. I think I'll be disappointed quickly driving a huge land yacht
The M5 is boring in my opinion. The power is fantastic, but it creates high limits which are unobtainable on the street. Its better on track, but the number of M5 owners who track is considerably low. The exhaust is lame, the handling is okay, and steering is weak, and the ZF8 is smooth but not as snappy as a DCT.

I find the new E63S to be better, because on the street, it doesn't just feel like another E-Class, like the M5 does (feels like a fast 540i, I would know having owned a 540i). The E63 has a flare for the dramatics. The exhaust, engine, and transmission are all much better and engaging in my opinion. But I would take a C63 or M3 over their mid-size siblings any day of the week, they are both simply much more engaging and fun.

Interesting. I hadn't thought about the E63. When the time comes I'm going to check out some Mercs. I wish they would keep the V8 in the C63 as I would just go that route on my next car. A 4banger hybrid sounds so lame.

Yeah the 4-pot C63 is the wrong direction. The Germans (other than Porsche) seem to be trying some "bold" moves as of late which go against their loyal clientele.

The E63S also has its faults, but I just find it a much more engaging vehicle than the M5, and of course, there's a wagon available too

Yeah. The wagon would be cool. I was watching some YouTube vids on the RS6 Avant yesterday. That thing is balling. Wish the wife would go for a wagon.

BMW has really thrown me for a loop. No ED and Shit G8x.

I just showed my wife a pic of that frozen Orange G8x on the main page. She was like HELL NO I want to vomit. Haha

I was reading the new G80 frozen Orange post that was on the bimmerpost homepage and noticed every comment was positive about it. I started to think, man people on this forum have gone crazy, then I remembered that this thread exists and that explains it lol.

Yeah man. I was laughing at that thread. Everyone is banned and the people that are posting in that section on those threads have super low rep scores.

I’d like to stay in the BMW family hence the M5. Wife says I’m getting too old to be in a small car hahaha. If I get a Merc, how would I explain to my neighbors that I no longer own a BMW dealership (we have 4 BMW’s parked at our house).

I also looked at the A6 Avant but not sure I can do a wagon. I might have to relook at Merc again. Never really had a problem with my prior Mercs. Hmmm.

I guess the bottom line is that the G8X is out, regardless, unless they change that design. Even the tail lights look ho-hum

You have to be a real twat to buy a car in any of those colors. Sure they’re cool and shocking. But they’re not pretty at all.

The only look back I think is possible for the G80 is “god what the hell where they thinking and what was that guy smoking when he came up with this design! One I saw a Lamborghini, testorosa, or 911 for the first time as a kid, I had zero idea about its performance. I just know they were the most beautiful cars I’d ever seen.

The new G80 generates the the same emotions I had when I first saw a Lada or an old Volvo station wagon (didn’t care what the safety rating was for that ugly rectangular box).

It’s a sports sedan/coupe. Looks matter. You can say the look of the Alfa Romeo Quadrifoglio front grill is subjective - some like it, some don’t. I happen to like it. The 880/82 is an abomination. You’d have to be blind to to think that isn’t ugly. Nothing subjective at all about how ugly it is.

Colour is subjective the overall look and design is not.

Now if you want, I’ll tell you how I really feel about that hood😆
It's actually these types of comments that are getting folks banned from the G8X forum. YOU might dislike the looks of the G8X, but it still remains a SUBJECTIVE opinion. And making pejorative comments about those that do like it is insulting.

Well, the only thing he said that was insulting was the blind comment and honestly, I said the exact same thing, just with different words. I believe it was something along the lines of having "detached retinas"

Hey, is there someone who doesn’t think the front of the car isn’t ugly that doesn’t work for BMW??

I’m sure performance wise it’s great and will spank the F80 - especially the AWD version. Even than, I don’t think I’d like the the auto over the DCT.

But looks wise, I can’t get over the front of the G80/82. Does anyone consider Meryl Streep or Judi Dench to ever have been even remotely beautiful?? I sure the heck didn’t. They were considered great actresses, but I don’t think anyone would ever consider either of them to be even remotely beautiful. The front of the G80/82 is even less attractive than them. Performance use it may become the award winning Judi Dench of “M” cars, but sure is not one that I’d want to ride!!

I personally do not like them, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. IMO, there wont be that many "beholders" for the gen though .

And even regarding performance, on paper at least, I am not sure the base and CP version offer that much of a performance lead over my M4cs...

Well, I didn't get to test drive an Alfa after all, the BMW Gods must have known that I was driving to their arch nemesis' dealer because 5-minutes out from arriving, my son calls me and says his X3 spilled out all its oil and needs to be towed and that he needed a ride home, so I ended up dealing with that all night.

I'm thinking its the vanos oil line. I had a similar issue on my E46 330i. Left the car parked and a few minutes later had oil spilling out everywhere. Seems like a common problem on the M54, I'm hoping that's it, but its been towed to the mechanic, luckily he will be using the wife's car to get to work. Really ironic too as my son just hit 20k miles in the X3 (we bought it with 140k) and had no issues, so of course now it acts up hopefully I'll drive the Quadrifoglio this weekend.

You get to drive them? The reliability scares me a little too much.
I have to see how good this car is lol. I drove the base Ti with the 4-cylinder and it was fantastic, The Giulia and Blackwings, and maybe the Model 3 Performance are pretty much the only foor doors that have my interest left, the Germans are losing me, and the 911 is too impractical at the moment for my needs, and I don't care for the Taycan. Otherwise a W205 C63 may do, but I'm ready for something new and different, may be worth the risk...
